I mean, kinda, I'm not certain exactly when you came online but I think it's about this time. According to Burn's join date anyway.
But anyway, 21 years eh. Wow. How's everyone doing?

Funny you should bring it up. Last night I reluctantly tossed a quilt I received as a high school graduation gift from my church congregation twenty years ago. Hard to believe it's been so long.
Life's been pretty uneventful, thankfully. Never pursued having a family of my own so can't say I have anything to share on that front. I picked up World of WarCraft back in 2004 and I'm still playing the MMO, which will be releasing the tenth expansion in August and celebrating its twentieth anniversary in November.
With the Transformers franchise, my interest fell off not long after the first Michael Bay film in 2007. I tried to give "Transformers Animated" a fair shot, but I found the style to be too off-putting. The following year further solidified my disinterest when catastrophe struck HMW, resulting in the loss of quite literally everything. Considering it had taken me about five years to level my characters from 0 to 4 (maybe a level 5 in there somewhere), I just did not have much interest in starting from scratch again.
The following intervening years had me occasionally dipping back in for awhile to see what was up and to let people know I (and Ransom) still existed. Picked up TF: Prime when it was about midway through season 2 and thought it was rather average, but I did begin to enjoy it more with season 3. (Seriously, can't there ever be an actual full cartoon run without being canceled? And "Beast Machines" doesn't count.) I also watched the 2018 "Bumblebee" movie and while it was... fine, let's be honest -- y'all watched it for the full CGI no-humans sequence that lasted the initial couple of minutes, didn't you.
For whatever reason, I chose to pick HMW back up in earnest beginning at the end of 2022. It was sad coming back to find, though not surprisingly, the vast majority of the community had moved on. Still it was nice seeing some old faces again and what with there being less competition for gaining experience, I've actually been leveling very fast. I'm currently having only Alacrity do missions so he can stop being the outlier of the team when it comes to XP, but once he's caught up everyone will be at least level 9.
Oh, and I still have that Red Alert toy from the "Transformers: Cybertron" line way back when. It's remained the only Transformers toy I ever bought. (Funny enough it technically wasn't the first; the initial Red Alert I purchased was defective in that the only way to have the head come up would have required using pliers. It was that stiff.)

For better or worse, it just keeps on rolling. Like that one car you thought would crap out years ago but still clings to life support after a million miles.

Ah, ****. I'm sorry you're having to deal with that, Burn. I hope everything goes as well as it can.Burn wrote:Yeah ... I ain't dragging this thread down, let's just say, **** cancer.
Hey now, I can honestly take or leave that two minutes TBH. It's one of the least interesting parts of the film for meSilver Wind wrote:I also watched the 2018 "Bumblebee" movie and while it was... fine, let's be honest -- y'all watched it for the full CGI no-humans sequence that lasted the initial couple of minutes, didn't you.

Bumblebee is the only one of the live action films I'll rewatch for enjoyment, but it's for Charlie and Bee. A TF-meets-human story that actually has emotional beats and time to breathe? Yes please. It's kinda like Budiansky on a good day.
Yeah likewise, I'm higher level now than I ever was the first time around. But I miss the forums and the community, even when they were a bunch of argumentative sodsSilver Wind wrote:For whatever reason, I chose to pick HMW back up in earnest beginning at the end of 2022. I'm continually amazed that it's still ticking over, and that the current version looks like it's basically the 2007 code, unchanged.Dragonslayer wrote:For better or worse, it just keeps on rolling.
