I should have Starscream in hand later today, based on my latest update from Pulse and the shipper's tracking.

I was slow to come around, but I'm all in on all of it now. Bring on Wave 2.

I just headcanon the figures/molds/decos I like into new characters.
SG Bee is Hornet, just a generic Autobot.
SG Jetfire is Nemesis Fire, an evil clone of Jetfire made by Shockwave similar to Prime and Primal in my headcanon.
SG Starscream is Medic. He's a seeker and a great flyer but can't shoot worth a damn. However he is fearless and adept at deflecting laser blasts with his swords, allowing him to charge in toward a fallen comrade and provide cover, then aid. He is also a very competent emergency surgeon.

If Ultra Magnus is in Powered Convoy colors, I'll be headcanon-ing him into Delta Magnus.

Jetfire is frikkin perfect. I love this guy so much more than the regular Siege one. I love this so so much, like Puffer level of love with no real good reason for it.

I know it's a popular criticism that this mold is a shellformer and the bot mode is independent of the jet, but like in the G1 mold, all of the key visual characteristics of the bot are in the way the kibble is used: the chestplate, the shoulders, and the wings. That the tetrajet mold puts all of these where they belong in bot mode while they're all prominent in jet mode is a brilliant bit of engineering design.
I have almost a dozen of these guys and I've transformed each of them multiple times, and I never get sick of the conversion, it's just that fun.
As for my headcanon, I may steal (borrow? license?) Kev's medic idea, especially if I'm ever displaying all the tetrajets together. The rest of the time, I'm just going to consider him "heroic Starscream." I probably won't worry about locking that in as either an alternate universe version versus Starscream's idealized "true self" as created by Mairghread Scott and Sara Pitre-Durocher (though admittedly he doesn't have nearly enough blue.)
As in most of the pics I've seen online, there's only one way to pose him in bot mode, holding the combined sword in one hand, and aiming his shoulder-mounted blaster in the other. After transforming him a couple times, I positioned him that way, and that will be the mental image I always have.
He's deskbot today, so concentrated light instead of a proper lightbox photo:

Am I the only one to pose my SG Starscream the same way as the original, with the sword divided as arm-blades?
Glorious blurry picture:

As for the 5, the cons got the good end of the stick. I'd rank them from best to worst: Jetfire, Starscream, Megatron, Blurr, and Goldbug.
Jetfire is perfect, no issues whatsoever with me. Starscream is beautiful, but Jetfire's colors help edge him over Scream. I really like how much thought went into Megatron, though he does need a new head. Blurr looks cool, but now his arm sleeves have no friction so they will just naturally swing to their lowest position. Goldbug looks neat enough but he needed a bigger and different mold.

What color, blue? That would be nice, I hate light piping. Mine still hasn't arrived, it was due Friday, never showed up, got a message in tracking Saturday saying it couldn't be delivered that day (USPS refuses to deliver to doors around here in the winter, I think they're afraid of icy driveways), but they didn't leave a note in my mailbox like they usually do so I have no idea what's going on. Hopefully they leave a note in my box Monday so I can pick it (and an ebay package) up Tuesday morning after work.

Here is my definitive ranking, including all SG releases from the selects and SG line:
1) Jetfire
2) Starscream
3) Megatron
4) Ratchet
5) Optimus Prime
6) Blurr
7) Goldbug
Here are some more pics of Starscream. He is a beauty

Now that I have all of them in I'm going to give my own impressions and ranking. Aside from the top 3, the list isn't exactly easy, they're all good figures for the most part.
7) Blurr - Looks good and an overall good mold, even got a new head. I don't know about anyone else, but mine is really loose and one of the "wedges" under his forearm wont stay up unless I equip the blowtorch in that hand to keep it propped up.
6) Goldbug - Looks good, has the new head that we're all looking forward to seeing used as on G1 Goldbug, but isn't the SG body that any of us wanted to see him in. There were many better options out there and they went with laziest one and we're all a little burnt out on.
5) Ratchet - This one feels right and makes the most sense as a repaint, but isn't a particularly great mold, especially the back of the van mold not resembling the back of a van. Would have also been nice if they included some extras like the spare accessories from the Siege release.
4) Optimus Prime - Colors are a little off, but the figure still looks great. I do wonder if this was the right mold and maybe they should have used the Siege mold to imitate the bulkier Classics body's alt mode. But that's beside the point, it's still a very good figure in both modes and the familiar, iconic Prime look as an evil character is always going to be striking.
3) Starscream - The Tetra Jet mold is already great and we certainly got a small army of them, but the dominantly white color scheme looks nothing like all of the rest and really sets it apart from the rest and is in opposition to them rather than being just another figure in the swarm. The extra sword parts definitely add more to the mold in both modes.
2) Megatron - The colors alone really bring new life to this tired mold and we rarely see a stark white (hover) tank like this. White it isn't a great remake of the original SG figure it does do convincing enough job without just looking like a flying tank thanks to several new parts. Those parts can also be used in bot mode and even fan tank modes making him now a Triple Changer. There's so much added play value that the other uses of the mold no longer matter.
1) Jetfire - While he was always going to be a good figure he somehow feels entirely refreshed in new colors. Like Optimus there's something very sinister and evil about the new black and purple look without the need for new parts. We never officially got a SG Jetfire in the original FunPub run (that was a repurposed Japanese "Dark Jetfire" figure) making this the first actual SG Jetfire figure made, making him a great fit for both old and new SG collections and potentially opening us up to later first time figures from SG stories.
