For4 reference, I was dumb enough to buy MP Bee from BBTS back then. It was 80$US. Plus 15$US of shipping. THEN CUSTOMS HIT FOR 30$CAN.

So a mark up of $30 then shipping for BBTS back then. Ouch.The price I quoted didn't include S/H so it feels like highway robbery

So waiting for an eventual "domestic" release is a double edge sword. You get either a sturdier version like MP-Starscream (Hb anime Starscream) version 1 and cheaper iirc than MP-03 but with stripped down features (TT and Skywarp just used SS face switch gimmick)or thinner plastics like Grimlock or in BB's case, waaaaaaaay more expensive.

The pitfalls of waiting or getting........ :-(

@ Sillyspringer ........you better get those "wished" MPs while available

I'm not on the side of defending highway robbery but, if you reference the data I presented, the extra CAD 40 may be to offset the shipping costs? Plus their profit margins.

Also, I also got BB last 2014 just like you. Maybe the moral of the story is to get the Takara releases as the Hbs are no longer that "cheap" anymore.

There is no shipping to offset. At least not more than for any other Hasbro toy. This isnt an imported item (unless one considers anything made by a chinese factory an import, but then thats the same as any other hasbro toy).

Well the cost by JP online shops already factored in the store's profits for MP BB. Then Kanraboat's price quotes for BBTS BB he spent adds that CAD 40. BBTS pays for shipping then other overhead plus profits (maybe that's where the extra CAD 40 went?).

Then the shipping BBTS charged Kanrabat which got him so riled up.

More or less, the price of worldwide shipping is factored in the domestic releases' SRP......that or highway robbery on TRUs part then? 8-}

Oh I see what you mean now, that basically TRU is charging what it would cost to import the guy twice, haha. Yeah, I can see that in their calculations to see how high they can price something. Its like a guy at a local toy show selling figures for their prices on e-bay plus shipping :lol:

I'm not anti capitalist but you can never put one over a corporate slug to squeeze as much from a product as they can. Take the metastasis that was Bayformers Bumblebee :SICK:

etc.That was overkill but maybe, the added cost tacked in to the VW licensing for international sale might also be a factor.

I do hope that the pricing for Hb BB in domestic America would be different than that in Canada but I don't want to hold my hopes up.

Evening folks, you may have recently read that the Hasbro Transformers Masterpiece MP-08 Bumblebee had hit Canadian store shelves. It's true, and now he's in hand and side by side with his predecessor, TakaraTomy's MP-21. The differences are as minimal as they were between Prowl and Bluestreak's Stateside cousins, and about what you'd expect. The Hasbro Bumblebee has the standard serial number stamped on him (albeit much harder to find than the Datsun's) and the red tail lights are a bit dimmer but that's about it. On the Hasbro version is the entire tail light section molded in translucent red plastic rather than the Takara Tomy version using clear plastic with tinted red "lights"? Looks that way on the comparison image where you can see the panel joint on the arm.

Probably not that many (if any) variants of this mold considering it's expensive and is also the G1 character. At most, if anything, we'll see a G2 gold version and a version with movieverse's wasp stripes. If anyone's going to get variant-spammed it's Camaro-boy.

Although, maybe they have finally learned their lesson about overpacking Bee. Grimlock was the one I've seen shelfwarming (Especially the stupid worthless jumbo-sized non-transforming brick version).

Considering how Hasbro doesn't typically do character variants of Masterpiece molds, I'd say this will be the only use of this mold we'll ever see from Hasbro for the foreseeable future.

The SRP was $61 USD but it was available at Japanes retail at $46 USD.

It comes with a virtually identical faceplate. It doesn't have the battle mask as in the instructions.
