WOW!......

um.........

WOW!

(regathers himself) so, did you end up using the second head sulpt or is that a third version? and since you did go into such extreme detail with this guy, did you ever consiter using a drill bit to put in the rivit look on the edges of the pannels (for example on either side of the 'con logo, or on the wheel pannels)? Third question, is the cannon that size because that way it matches the vehical mode sketch (in other words, the two sketches have a continuety issue)?

and incase I didn't say it before... WOW!
till all are one.

Great work there meistro! There aren't any words for its greatness. are those alt. hands? For some reason I thought they were the G 1/100 hands. All and all, nice.

Now make one for me, and make it snappy I haven't got all year.

Also, now I guess you have time to finish that alt. prime you were working on as well.

I don't thiunk awsome quite covers it! That's incredible! Any other Hearts of Steel characters planned? The closest I considered was repainting the anklosaurus to be prehistoric bumblebee.

Damn...

I mean, how do you respond to something like this? It looks just like the picture! And I love the fact that it transforms. Which is also probably a testament to the designers of the comic characters (I forget who did these) in coming up with a look that was also functional. And Lobo here proved it.

Awesome, awesome job. One of the best and most intriguing scratchbuilds I've ever seen.

Truly wondrous - you've outdone yourself again, lad. The resemblance to the original drawing is uncanny, which, as as been said, is testament both to Guido's skills (in designing a character that looks good while still having a believable alt-mode) and your own (in interpreting the transformation scheme and so faithfully replicating the design).
I'd also like to reiterate Jim's point - your final headsculpt is pretty much spot on, far better than the previous attempt. What did you end up doing after all?

Really Impressive, but i have some questions:

1.- Where i can find the styrene for work in that?
2.- How i can glue Transformer parts to scale models (for example)?

I saw the pictures of this at the IDW boards and was stunned. This is definitely on my top ten list of things to get pictures of at Botcon. I am so glad I'll be going because the art room looks to be really strong this year, especially with pieces like yours.

The head scuplt is the second one I made. I modified it a little from the pics in the WIP thread. I shaved about a 1/16" off the bottom (at TFM's suggestion), redid the grooves, and made the sides more concaved.

For the rivet detail, I actually used glue and made rivets on the wheels and legs. I forgot about the chest and groin area prior to paint though. Here's a closeup of the legs.

Image

There were a couple continuety issues between the cannon and bot modes in Guido's concept drawing. I typically went with what would work the best. If I made the knees and cannon smaller (like in the bot drawing), it would have looked bad in alt mode. For that reason, the proportions are a bit off in bot mode but still, IMO, look as though it would if Hasbro had made it.

Primus_Feather wrote: Very Nice Lobo, Mind if I inquire which method you went with for the Cannon??

Just a cannon unfortunately. Non firing and no gimmicks. I did that for a couple resons, Time and Weight. I spent about a week playing around with just HOW to built the cannon and wanted to make sure I'd finish by BotCon. Also had to keep the weight down because it puts quite the strain on the elbow joint and I couldn't build a stop becasue I need the elbow to bend backwards for the transformation.

But I did leave it open enough on the inside to maybe go back and do something with it. The barrels "chambered" for Lego Bionicle Zamora (sp?) balls.

You can get styrene at almost any hobby store or online.

You can use all kinds of glue for kitbashes. I mostly use Super Glue gel or JB Weld epoxy.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I've watched this project for some time, but seeing the result is even exeeding my wildest predictions for this project. Too bad the cannon's not too complex, but you can indeed fiddle with it later.
The only thing that could use a bit of fine-tuning is the bottom of the face as it looks a bit like he's gained some under-chins. :P

Beautifull work...

Kickass. This is has to be one of the best scratchbuilds I've ever seen. :D

It would look better with a bit of (silver) weathering to make it look older and battle-used, but that's just my personal preference. :)

ill second the weathering effects.. this piece is amazing as is.. but something from that era would be beat up as hell. and some weathering to him would make this .. well perfect.

Now you really have to think anout the weatherd look, cause it wouldn't neccesarily be weathered looking unless it was already old. And the character is from when that type of cannon would be brand new. Also, Cannon's were cast. Even if it were scratched It'd be doubtfull it would be a diffrent color because they didn't start painting the cannons until they were made of copper if my memmory serves me correctly.

Lord_Loqi's right. I went for a new look as opposed to a damaged look. Just my personal preference.

Plus, I most likely would have screwed it up. :D

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I took pics of the entire transformation sequence and their going to be included in the gallery.
