Obviously, it all depend of the price point. You get what you pay for.

It's even got RB Heatwave's Energize dual-nozzle cannon.Mindmaster wrote:I still find it very odd that they used this Heatwave as opposed to Rescue Bots Heatwave.

Another point of weirdness from the new design team, on top of:
- Generations Whirl and Roadbuster based more on their G1 toys and not as updated as other "Classics-style" toys
- G2/IDW-esque Generations Jhiaxus colored like the RiD toy.
- AOE Evolution 2-Packs using Energon Grimlock and the DOTM dino Mini-Cons
- G1 Strafe box art on the AOE Strafe Evolution 2-Pack to represent the G1 Swoop-esque toy
- Walmart getting exclusive AOE redecos of Beast Wars molds from over a decade ago
- MP Sunstorm not colored like G1 Sunstorm
Nay. It's from the MP Sunstorm thread, but still no less true since the info is still accurate.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:It's even got RB Heatwave's Energize dual-nozzle cannon.Mindmaster wrote:I still find it very odd that they used this Heatwave as opposed to Rescue Bots Heatwave.

Hey, that's a copy-pasta from the AoE thread.

It's more likely that the new design team members wanted to make a Heatwave Hero Mashers figure, looked for the name in the archives, found the Timelines/SG toy before the Rescue Bots toy, and went with that instead.Metro Prime wrote:Mindmaster wrote: I still find it very odd that they used this Heatwave as opposed to Rescue Bots Heatwave.
My guess is that he's supposed to represent a non-kiddie, G1 equivalent of Rescue Bots Heatwave.

Same thing happened with Generations Jhiaxus's orange RiD deco despite the mold clearly being designed to resemble G2/IDW Jhiaxus (they looked in the archives and found the RiD toy first and used that for reference instead of the comics' deco).
After all, this Hero Mashers Heatwave even has the dual-water cannon tool that belongs to Rescue Bots Heatwave.
G2 Groove was orange and teal, not blue.Metro Prime wrote:It seems like the new design team has been making some weird double homages, like the new Protectobot Groove's deco being based on the G2 version, or the Jhiaxus thing, along with a bunch of other stuff that you posted in the MP Sunstorm thread. I might be giving them more credit than they deserve, then.

They seemed to have based this Groove's deco off of Universe Groove instead.
And I really would give the new team too much credit since, when they admitted to basing Jhiaxus's deco off of the RiD toy because that's what they found first, the whole reason they had to go looking in the archives for a Jhiaxus deco was because they weren't even aware that the Generation 2 comics Jhiaxus deco existed.
The new team is comprised mostly of freshly new people who came from other brands like Star Wars and G.I. Joe, and aren't really that familiar with the Transformers brand's 30 years of history. There are simply a lot of things that they aren't aware of, and thus keep making these kinds of awkward decisions not knowing that the fans are going to be raising a few eyebrows over each of these choices they make.
Yes, the Jhiaxus mold is sculpted to take inspiration from the IDW version of the character, but said version still used a deco akin to his G2 self. Red head, even.Metro Prime wrote:I did some research. It seems the Jhiaxus we're getting is based on the IDW design, which is actually orange and grey. Then again, I may be reading too far into it and the new design team is just not that knowledgeable when it comes to Transformers. .
