I figure if we get the ideas and rules ironed out the sooner the better

Perhaps the first question is... when will this take place?

There are more than a few plans in order and we want to (a) get them complete and (b) know what timeframes are in order for any tie-ins or for ideas.

However, as for grand-scale-endall-V1 ideas themselves... I'm still pondering.

No release date yet, but I figure we can at least start throwing ideas around.

General timeframe though is "Spring" (per the Facts thread). That means April at the earliest for HMW II rollout which means targeting March / April seems reasonable for a proper send off.

To all, what have been some of the best tournaments to date and how were they run? Anyone have old links to their threads lying around so we can dredge them up to review? (Assuming Ike didn't eat them...)

I think if it's a straight up battle, we'd have to use the Defection Wars II scoring system.

Or just one big ole bracket war. Or each faction has it's own tournament to pick a faction champ to send to the main tourney.

I kinda like the bracket/"playoff" idea for a tournament. A couple of each factions chosen and best fighters entering to represent their faction. Have maybe 4 people from each faction, a 16-man bracket, 2 or 3 that enter(from each faction) entering by winning a smaller faction ran tournament, then possibly the 4th(or 3rd&4th whichever way to go) entering via poll, voted on as like an 'all-star' for the faction.

I think a 2nd run of F.Echoes' recent tourney that would be a nice way too, the winning faction being a sort of undisputed champion of V1 of sorts

From what I understand, it's already been called Dibs on by Red... and was it Jeep or Veep.... I dunno. Can't always keep the eeps straight.

Myself and Jeep have a very interesting idea that we think would be a great end to HMW1, as well as a good end to the current arc of our own particular tournie canon.

We will post details of it as soon as we have thrashed out a bit more details (hopefully this evening).

Why stop with one?

Do a number of the different styles we've developed over the years. Hunts, Scalpings, Bracketing, all of which culminate in a week long traditional style tournament.

I like this idea, maybe have Reds and JP's tournament thing as the week long end tournie?

The tournament plan myself and Red have devised currently involves two tournaments anyway, plus we traditionally run a side game alongside any tourney. I see no reason why we can't incorporate a few under the same umbrella.

However, if anyone tries to take this away from Red and myself, horse head/bed interplay will occur. And not in the way Red's already used to.

well.. a good "Cybertron is dying" thing seems to befit TF's pretty well. The winning/surviving faction will own HMWv1 Cybertron, HMWv2 will take place on Gorlam Prime.

The Hunt/Search/Destruction/Defense of Vector Sigma before Cybertron truly dies and will become a ghost planet.

I think it will go well with IDW's current plans of introducing a "cybertronian" magnate civilization and that Transformers are not created by primus as his children but rather an advancement of "human" technology up to a point where enhancements of the human mind is no longer an option if you want "eternal life"

Basically, the planned storyline takes nearly every tourney that's been run for the past year and a half and finishes off a lot of loose plot threads from them. Hell, it finishes off quite a lot. Think of it as "Return of the Jedi", whilst the previous tournaments are "Blake's Seven".

Is there definitely only the time for the one?

Just to play Unicron's advocate here (because I like the background behind several of the recent tournaments even if I didn't really take part): Some people might get annoyed or see it as inappropriate if the "official" End of HMW I Tourny is based on two people's pet project. So it seems a better idea to schedule in two; one for Jeep?'s and FE's storyline and a more generic its-all-going-to-hell tourny as the capstone event before the launch of v2.

Like I said, just voicing a concern.

Also, I don't suppose anyone still has the material from the DSA's planned End of V1 event, do they?

While I understand that Jeep? and Fearless Echoes have run many tourneys and would like to finish it off with a bang, I agree that this should be everyone's tournament. I feel that this should be everyone's tournament.

Though, I do think that they should submit their idea. If everyone wants to do it, then all the better

I'd be surprised if *anybody* has even come up with an idea for an alternative story line yet and it's not like we wont be asking others to chip in (we *always* encourage people from all four factions to both offer their charecters and teams and offer their writing skills). The only reason we havnt given more away yet is that we wanna keeps something for the tourniment, but everybody we have told it to agrees it's on the right track, and of the right substance for an event like this (although there are clues in the previous writings we've done (tournie and otherwise) and there would have been more had it not all gone tits up during the five armies tournie).

Right, I now know what Jeep and Redimus' tourney pitch will be (and I have to admit, it is totally awesome.) More will be explained as we get closer to making a decision.

But they are not the only players in HMW.
What I want from the rest of you guys is what YOU all want.

Want a huge kick-ass battle against 'canon' characters?
Want a knockout battle that actually kills your opponents permanently?
Want to fight against a world eating menace or just keep it between the 4 factions?
Want to make it Beast Wars era vs the G1-awesomeness era?
Want to kick the mouse in disneyland?

Throw them out there guys, everything will be considered.
