It's just as bad as all the YouTube spam threads that popped up a while back. The only difference is, because someone has died, no one is giving it a critical eye.

Besides, I obviously didn't know who the guy was, so I had to take a look and see if it was a relevant public persona.

Honestly there is no need for the attitude. These threads pop up from time to time with no harm to anyone.
Just because you never heard of the person does not mean that he is unknown to anyone else.

If you do not know who the person is then simply click the "back" button at the top of the screen and completely ignore the thread.

Simple as that.

Yes, I know who he was as I watched Letterman in his NBC days.
And to some he may have been relevant.
