I need a little help with one of my on going projects.

For the majority of the past twelve months, I've been trying to convert a set of late G1 non-combining yellow Constructicons to form Devastator. In the main I've been successful and the conversion itself is currently about 99% complete.

The issue I have is with Devastators arms, please let me explain...

The original G1 (green) Devastator has dark purple arms with green 'tabs' to launch his missiles, while G2 Devastator has light purple arms but no 'tabs' as his missiles are non-launchable. Although my late G1 set is yellow with dark purple plastic, his 'tabs' are green which looks odd. I could just use the G2 Devastator arms but the plastics are different colours, so again it looks a little strange.

The only two solutions I've been able to come up with so far are...

1) Paint the green 'tabs' either black or yellow to match, or
2) Buy a cheap yellow KO set and then transplant the yellow 'tabs'

I know this isn't exactly rocket science and my project is nothing when compared to some of the customs I've seen on here. However this is the first time I've even attempted something like this and I just want to do a good job.

I would really appreciate any advice, so what should I do?

Even though no one was really interested, I'd thought I would update you guys anyway.

I've decided to paint the tabs, that way if it does go tits up, I can always transplant the yellow tabs from the KO at a later date, when I've got some spare cash.

Well it went tits up! I did try to paint them, but despite preparing the surface correctly the paint finish was awful so I've been force down the transplant route.

I managed to get a really cheap yellow 'Quickchange' KO Bonecrusher and used the yellow tab from his missile launcher. I must admit that despite looking OK, the degradation to firing mechanism means the missiles no longer launch with any significant conviction, but as they say 'beggars can't be choosers'.

All I need now is a second 'KO' to complete the project, once complete I will post pictures at some point.
