Fansproject Protector Mystery Part?

I just got my kit in today and was going through all the pieces when i came across a mystery piece. It looks like a swivel joint but its nowhere in the instructions and i cant seem to find out were it goes. Ive included a link to the pic in my photobucket here http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1/fu ... DC0070.jpg Can you guys tell me what it is or what it does?

now that i look at it it kinda resembles a hand/fist but i still cant figure out what its for.

Weapon: Double-Barreled, Armor-Piercing Particle Beam Cann...
it's the secret handshake piece. The white part fits in protectors fist and the black part in voyager classics primes fist. It makes it look like they are shaking hands.
