i dont remember to much about g1 series but what i do remeber very well is decepticons can fly megatron, soundwave, but the autobots have not there from teh same planet and all.

only autobots i remebering flying were the arialbots, skylinx, samll green spaceship, omega surpreme, and jetfire and maybe the dinobots once or twice other than swoop.

I thought it was weird when I first came across an article pointing that fact out. I always thought they all could fly, especially given the opening credits. Prime can certainly jump pretty far. I'd say the G1 cartoon reason is that the Decepticons (or their ancestors) were created as soldiers, the Autobots as factory workers, though if you venture into other continuities that explanation goes away.

I think they sort of edited all this later in other series such as Armada, Energon and Cybertron.

Or, because that's the way they wrote the script... In earlier episodes, the Autobot's inabilty to fly was compensated by the fact that they had access to jetpacks.
