Touch up paint?

Postby Mkdlmr » Sun Feb 19, 2023 7:40 am

Any advice on touching up paint scratches? I've tried color-matching with sharpies, but sharpies tends to wipe right off plastic figures.

Thanks!

Sharpies aren't really a good idea, in fact I've read some can eat away the plastic they're used on. For small touch-ups, I'd recommend looking into so-called "Gundam markers", but for larger jobs paints used for model kits should do the job. The BotCon Customising Classes used the Testors brand, which you can find at any good hobby store like Michael's.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Make sure it's Testors acrylic, their enamel is really only made for model kit plastic and wont cure properly on all types of plastic leaving them always feeling tacky to the touch.

So enamel is only good on ABS and not PA aka nylon or POM?

Thanks for the replies! What about something like this combo? Specifically the paint on the forehead of my Titan-class Ark is chipping, so I'd like to touch it up.

Army Painter and Citadel paints for that matter are pretty gentle and go on pretty smoothly, so would work well for the robot head of the Ark. Just might have to do a light second coat to make sure it looks even!
