Motto: "This is your end."
Weapon: Quasar Cannon
With the exception of two figures MISB, everythings been opened up.

One is a '74 Movie BB, an extra. And the other is Dropkick. I bought it a week ago, but wasn't sure about opening it up right away. Depending on peoples reviews of Dropkick, I may open it up eventually

I am a new collector - 1 month in.

Right now I have purchased at least 2 of everything I want to keep. Open one and store the other until I could figure out how to display them.

I do have a question about MISB. When someone says they have an item or are selling an item in MISB condition.. does that mean just the item in the sealed box is Mint? Or is it kind of a known that if someone describes an item as MISB that the box is in Mint condition as well?

I just don't want to have to ask everyone about the box condition that says they are selling an MISB item if I don't have to. I also don't want to get a sealed item with the box all banged up.

Thanks!

most people on ebay stating their item is MISB also state the box's condition, C-10, C-9.5 etc....

I usually buy doubles though so I can play with them. It's the Takara stuff I tend to only buy singles of because they are much more expensive than the mass retail stuff in the states.

Someone I can relate to. A kindred spirit of sorts. You are my double ;;)

All joking aside I completely agree with this post as I fit the bill for this type of collecting. I also find it easier to display the items from my collection and to dust them. I buy doubles of the ones that I want to display.

See attached pics below for what I mean. Those MISB will never leave their twist-tie prisons

I love your display!! you are an inspiration to all MISBers!!!

Ok, if your not hip to the lingo already here it is again....

MISB (Mint in Sealed Box)
MIB (Mint in Box)

there are other variations but for the purposes of this particular post I will voice my side of this subject. You see there are MISB collectors and then there are those who open their figures chuck the boxes or store them, and even still there are those who buy 2, one to open, one to keep closed..or as I used to say to my buddies on late night excursions to Wal-Mart, If I find that Toy it's OTO and OTC Baby!! Yeah!! we got excited about collecting, more then usually allowed for grown Men..

Anyhow there is also an Alternate form of Collecting, one in which I choose to stand, and mostly it's because I can't afford to buy 2 of the same toy, and miss out on getting a different one right then and there...

so................................

MIB/MISB..Huh you say?? I open my figures very painstakingly and carefully, transform them, Display for a time and then back in the box it is for you, tape and all..it's a difficult art to master akin to moistening a letter over steam opening it, reading it, and placing it back in a sealed state..It takes Huge! amounts of patience and practice...

Anyhow, 85% of what I own is MISB, that means it is sealed and has never been opened, on the other hand, I choose to mostly go after Japanese products because they are generally MIB collector friendly, No twisties, and easily replacable in their packaging... I love it and wouldn't change it for the world.. I know it takes me alot of time to track them down, but from an MIB collector it's a god send.. perfect example is the Masterpiece Megatron, simple and easy to remove, and even easier to replace!! AHHHHH sweet Asian Boxed Goodness!!

So if you like being MISB, that is great!! I like to be both, mostly MISB, but on the off chance, just to see what he looks like posed in a badass stance and displayed for all to Gawk when I have a visitor, or simply as an art piece for me to Gawk at with 6 or 7 Beers, and a comfy couch with DVD transformers cartoons on an all night marathon with my homies!! either way it's a great Hobby, no matter how you collect..

Just remember MIB is not a bad word.. it's just an easy way to enjoy yourself, and still feel like your collection is complete. Not to mention easy storage and dusting.. as well as protection.. If I have converted just a few of you to that possible way of collecting, I'll give some much needed advice, treat the removal of the Toy as if you were having it inspected by the AFA (Action Figure Association) the next day, and you have the potential to sell it for thousands of dollars, and you'll be very cautious during the removal process, and it will also make you appreciate your MISB's more..

Throwing caution to the wind and ripping a package open as if on X-mas, should be left up to the kids, and minicon packs..
