Getting way too antsy for Botcon 09

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

Seriously, we have hopes for a great convention because it is the 25th anniversary of transformers. But remember that FunPublications runs the convention so that kind of dampens the hope of a great con right there. They will be so concerned with their toys that they miss the point, which is the fans.

It just seems that it is expensive just to go and see some people that I met last year, perhaps to become better friends, and will never see them again. What I find even more interesting is that of all the people I met last year who keep in touch with me regularly, none of them are Seibertronians.

I don't know, people like Savage, CP and myself might not write you PM's all the time but do try to check in from time to time...

Besides, you're going to Botcon 09 because we need to see the hat again.

Amen. We might all be separated geographically, and I, for one, am usually fairly busy and don't write a lot of PMs/Emails. But I feel like I made some great Seibertronian friends at BotCon, and I kinda look forward to the next convention (and the ones after) as a chance for us to all get together once a year and wreak some havoc. I am on AIM fairly regularly though, and anyone on Seibs is more than welcome to drop me a line there anytime.

PS: I, too, demand the hat!

The hat may not make it next year. It looks less and less likely.

Sorry.

BotCon is a fun moment in the year. What else is life besides a series of moments, some fun, others not so much? What if we just skipped out on Christmas because it was commercialized or stayed at home on New Years? We wouldn't know how much fun everyone else was having because they don't question the reason...they just go and enjoy.

I firmly disagree that FunPub has any real effect on whether or not the convention is enjoyable. They provide a tent for the circus to come around to. The event is what we make of it.

It sounds like you're placing a bit of unfair burden on other people to make the event into what you think it should be. Don't think I'm criticizing you here, but rather asking...'what does keeping in touch mean now?' Most of us post on this board every day. If we don't, we aren't hard to find.

The best way to keep in touch with me is to come around and call me an idiot on the boards. That'll get my attention real quick and then we can have some pleasant debate. :)

I may piss and moan about FP being a bunch of scheduling 'tards, but in the end, I will make the convnetion if possible and if only for 3 days out of the year, immerse myself in a frenzy of rabid fanboy-ism.

Last year, I did not think I was going to have a good time at all cause I was used to running conventions, not attending them. I am certainly critical of FP cause I cannot help it. I attended last year for the sole purpose of networking. I accomplished 3/5th of what I set out to do. Not a bad percentage, really. Like you said, FP provides a circus and the rest is up to us. I was waiting on the date cause I had something awesome in mind in conjunction with the con. It was some behind the scenes stuff that I will probably still organize even if I do not attend. But date and location are passing the critical point and I have the week of June 20 scheduled to go to Boy Scout camp in North Carolina and the prior two weeks I am a Cub scout day camp counselor but I haven't confirmed those dates yet. I think ROTF comes out in June some time and I think that Botcon may be during my camp time also.

I would love to see BotCon in Indianapolis, outside of GenCon we get next to nothing in the relam of any major sci-fi conventions.

Hopefully the hotel(s) this year will have TVs that you can actually hook up a game system too. I'm not a drinking person, so I was eager to kick some ass on Halo or SSB or something.

Easy to fix, just bring a small TV with ya. We'll come over and beat you a few times.

And then they'll all get drunk, and UP will slaughter them.
