Is it just me or are the toys that hard to open and transform??

Postby SnipeShade » Mon Jul 30, 2007 10:24 pm

First, I try opening up the box to Starscream Voyager class.
-It takes me like 10 minutes to open it up enough to get to the figure itself.

Next, it takes me another 10 mins or so just to remove Starscream from the wires and rubber bands. (without doing it hastily or breaking off piece on SS.

AND THEN, when I finally get Starscream out, some 15 minutes later I'm ALMOST done transforming him. : ( Mostly because his joints were sooooooo stiff, I was afraid I was doing something wrong. Especially his knees, they didn't move for slag till I just went for it and bent it. Then I heard -click, click- and realized it was really JUST THAT HARD.

Is this normal? Is this how it is for most people and their toys? >.<

I hate how discreet those stupid clear rubber bands are. I took the longest time trying to figure out why the hell my Voyager Prime's legs wouldn't separate until I saw a glint of light and found that there was a stupid rubber band tying them together underneath the moveable parts.

Leader Prime is a pain to open I think. The ties around his body are bad enough, but the ones over his feet keep him nicely bonded to the package.

Usually I just use scissors and don't really have a problem but the Blackout/Scorpinok combo from TRU nearly gave me a aneurysm when I tried to get them out of the box. The transformation of Blackout was also annoying due to his crappy automorph.

Taking out of packaging is tedious on most of them, but transforming is easy. Nailclippers work the best to cut the wire, instead of trying to unravel it.

To each their own, I happen to like all of these restrictive devices, makes sure that the figure I got is in the best condition possible and was not tampered with during delivery or handling.

I think it took me more time to free Voyager Ratchet from his plastic prison than it did to transform him.

Even with nailclippers, those dang twist ties irritate me. Just when I think I got them all, there is at least 1 that I missed holding the figure in place. Primus, and LC Prime were a total pain to free out of their packaging. Transforming the new Transformers (for me, "new" means starting from Cybertron to present) is a pain as well. Not because they are hard to transform, but because I do this stupid thing of actually looking at the instructions which more often than not, suck.

Ewww...

I can say that at most, hardly anyone put their fingers in my Prime because I bought him as soon as he was put on the shelf. :)

yeah, me too, as soon as the movie line hit the shelves in my local Toy Kingdom (it's like TRU also), hurriedly went there from work and reserved the LC OP (we could reserve toys here, but only ONE figure & for a limited time only. it works to prevent scalping. heh heh).

though i had to tell the employee who was staffed at the TF section to QUIT TOUCHING LC prime's chest when i finally bought him. sheesh, some people don't know proper etiquette sometimes...
all the comments above are the HUMBLE OPINIONS of the said user only. 'nuff sed.

This is quite normal for Starscream. Piece of advice (all usual disclaimers apply :D ) use a small phillips head screw driver to loosen up the knee joints somewhat. Otherise the plastic is going to give sooner or later, being that stiff.

I prefer the Japanese packaging. Two moulded plastic pieces that fit together to hold the figure in place. Cut four pieces of tape and take the figure out. Putting it back into the box is just as easy to display or store the item when not displaying it. Reissue G1 US TRU Soundwave is like this. 10 times better than the present packaging which ruins the carded figures. The JPN carded figures for that matter are even better. Cut the tape on the back. Slide the card away and access the figure. Just as easy to put the figure back on card. 10 times better as I said.
BWOP: "Die-cast construction...It's a lost art!"

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

Agreed, though it seem worse with the movie toys than the Unicron-trilogy ones.

It took me a good 15 minutes to decipher Jazz's instructions because it took me FOREVER to figure out what to do with the hood.

Those instructions are like Hieroglyphics sometimes.

That's why it COST $19.99. It's made for ONE HOUR of enjoyment.

$19.99 for FIVE MINUTES would be highway robbery.
