I wonder if someone with the Japanese version can confirm how he combines with his trailer.

I also have the Japanese version of Takara Masterpiece Rodimus Prime.
I ordered it on-line & received it in march 2011. I did a few u-tube videos on my page doing various toy reviews of Takara MP Rodimus prime.

The Fan mode,I created can't fit into the Trailer. because their's no hollow part underneath the trailer for the legs to fit into.

I see. So in the Japanese version does he basically just slip in the trailer while in "Hot Rod" car mode, essentially?

The Takara MP Rodimus slips in the trailer in sports car mode but turned around backwards. the trailer comes with a lame flip out hood that slips over the hotrod sports car to form the rodimus prime front hood+fenders parts.

It's slightly more involved than that. The trailer has a false front that flips out from underneath. This video is kind of poorly done but it gives you the general idea.
