In my quest to G1ify my army of alternators, I added sideswipes missle launcher for some extra accuracy I also painted it white to match the cartoon

Try using Prowl, bluestreak and smokescreen's G1 guns also. they fit perfect.

I made my own one. It isn't accurate but it really fires.

That's sweet. Is it scratchbuilt, or cobbled from something else? And how's it mounted?

Mine would fire as well if I put a spring in it, but I have yet to find one that fits

The launcher comes from this little guy:

I cut, added pieces of plastic and Lego and painted. It can be mounted on or be used by my three Alts.
