I had a sudden bout of inspiration as to how at least some of the Dinobots could appear in a potential sequel.
The Autobot protoform[s] land in a high tech theme park. In the brand new -- state of the art bleeding edge -- robot dinosaur exhibit.
Add some plot contrivance about this group of Autobots needing to keep their presence a secret from the Decepticons currently on Earth. Perhaps the newly arrived Autobots are also pressed for time as people [workers, park owners, guests, etc] will be arriving soon and subsequently scan the robot dinosaurs to temporarily take their place until the newly minted Dinobots can make good their escape from the park and join up with Optimus and the other Autobots on Earth.

You can't really sell dinobots as dinosaurs to the audience. It barely passed rational muster for 9yr olds in the 80s. It won't pass muster for a wider audience in the here and now. Especially since it's not Beastwars you'll want, it's metal dinosaurs playing at inconspicuousness.
The dinobots, at least in basic concept, could be introduced in other forms. The best idea I've heard yet for Grimlock, for instance, was for him to be a monster truck. An environment where a name like that would not seem out of place. The other names are similarly applicable to other vehicle modes. Just not dinorsaurs.
Though why bother, since there are so many better characters/concepts in the pantheon to choose from.

Is this what Powerglide was modelled on?

Yes it was. Some of the micromasters were based on it too. What I'd like to see that hasn't been seen yet is an F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. http://www.military.cz/usa/air/in_service/aircraft/f18e/f18e_paint.jpg
It would make a cool alt mode for an Aerialbot.

Superion and the others.
i like what Ahkileez said about grimlock and the monster truck thing.
at least then u can have it that their forms back on cybertron were dinosaurs. and that its weird for them to be vehicles instead, as kind of back story
really stupid idea i know but still

I'd love to see a Warthog transformer too. But the problem with using planes for alt modes is the same as Starscream. They outstrip cars in size by three or four times generally so you end up with enormous differences in scale. Unless you put jetbots up against jet bots or start sprinkling magic mass-shifting dust around, it's a problem that isn't going to go away.

The USMC's Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle. USMC website for EFV
Description from the EFV site:The EFV is a self-deploying, high-water-speed, armored amphibious vehicle capable of seamlessly transporting Marines from Naval ships located beyond the visual horizon to inland objectives. While providing the speed and maneuvering capabilities to operate with the main battle tank on land, current obstacles to the landing force, oceans, lakes and rivers, can be used by the EFV as high speed avenues of approach and maneuver. The EFV is an armored, fully tracked infantry combat vehicle that will be operated and maintained by a crew of three Marines, and have a troop capacity of 17 Marines with their individual combat equipment.

I would love to see the Steam engines from the Comics (sorry, I'm not familiar with the name). It would fit as a sort of .5 prequel since Bay is placing Megs on earth millions of years prior to the others following. They could land in that timeframe. We would have trains and they would rock.
Astrotrain would be a great addition as well, but I'd think really difficult to pull off based on actual vehicle sizes.
Isn't wreckage close to the type of vehicle as the amphibious type listed here? At least the same body syle. I've not been a fan of those (CD Red Alert, G2 Soundwave). They just seem kind of boxy.

Mini, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, or any other German car most likely will nto be involved in these movies unless it's like they did with the Saleen Mustang and they are not called by their brand name. I'm sure we are all aware of the VW negativity of having their Bug involved due to "War Machines." Call me Captain Obvious.

But they were not war machines. They might have been get away cars, but they didn't have guns and such attached. I don't remember there being a German Bond-mobile either (correct me if I'm wrong, and I have no idea where Aston Martin comes from)

I personally would love to see a Dodge Charger as a Transformer.

I think your referring to Evolutions: Hearts of Steel. Very cool concept.
Yukon Denali = Trailbreaker
Chevy Avalanche = Brawn
Lamborghini Enzo's = Runabout and Runamuck
Formula One Racer = Guess who
Mustang GT = Cliffjumper
Jeep Wrangler = Another hard one
Corvette = Punch/Counterpunch
And a whole lot more.
