In Surprise Party, the Custodibot explained that the records of Ultra Magnus' creation was no available at the Hall of Records and was lost "long long ago" when the records asteroid got lost. Suggesting that Ultra Magnus was one of the older Transformers.

Silverbolt is dion . Silverbolt was a cargo ship, dion's spare parts were used to build the cargo ship and Alpha Trion used the cargo ship to build Silverbolt. :lol:

It explains why the aerialbots were chosen when goin to the past

I'm not disputing how "old" he is. What I am saying is UM did not exist before the movie in the storyline. He was written in later. At the time of the episode with Dion's death, the UM character did not yet exist ibn the story line to the best of my knowledge, unless it did in the comics.

So, that doesn't mean that Dion can't be Ultra Magnus.

If your logic is that the TFs universe must follow in a complete straight line of chronology, then you better not watch Beast Wars or your head will explode.

We are shown that Dion is a carrier vehicle that has a "trailer" that could carry an Earth-sized motor vehicle on it. It seems pretty idealistic that Dion would have been built in a car carrier.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make. The point is that Optimus has called others old friend. Just because he calls UM or Ironhide for that matter old friend doesn't connect them to once being Dion.
