To all players,
Due to the former player being unable to keep up with the amount of posting we expect for a character of such stature without being reminded to post weekly Starscream is now available for application.
Please note that Starscream is a very important character within the game and as such is required to have a serious and conscientious player.
Thank you,
The RPG staff

'Screamer is up for grabs!? Whoa. I really want to play him... But I seriously doubt the Mods will agree to it.
Speaking of characters, 'Ol Rammy is going to post soon. Same with Nightbeat.

I would like to take Screamer up for grabs, but due to me being a newbie in the mods eyes, it'll be a no

No one is going to be disqualified automatically.
The trick with Screamer is, he's a character that's up there, in terms of visibility, recognition and importance to the Transformers lore almost as much as Optimus Prime and Megatron himself. Everybody knows who he is and in a game like this, people want to see him doing what he does best--which the player's muse will decide. So, in judging the prospective applications, the mods are going to be even more strict than normal.
Getting all the bio stuff right is a given, since there's already a pre-approved profile. It's the sample post that starts to tell us whether a person can play the character. Screamer, particularly G1, just has a certain way about him. If someone can show us they can capture that, they're halfway there.
Just half, though.
Being able to portray Starscream well is fine and dandy, but if the next player can't commit to doing it all that much, then that does the game no good. Ember said as much a little earlier. That's where a player's history comes in and why "big" characters aren't given to untested players. This is a character who should be a viable contender to be the next one to sit on the Decepticon throne, but that can't happen if he's not in the thick of everything going on, Earth-wise. If a person's muse is engaged enough, it will flow naturally, especially with a character like that. It's kind of an unspoken thing, like how we approach the character limits--if someone's going for Starscream, they will be expected to use him more than if they had gone for, say, Cosmos.
If we're convinced someone can step up to that plate, Screamer will be handed over to them. It might sound kinda daunting, but I think it's incredibly fun being in the "thick of it", especially on a game like this where there's so many layers of stuff happening.

I'm not ready for anyone as big as Screamer. I still have my own characters to sort out. Plus, there are still some things I want to improve upon before I take another character.
To all of you who are in the race, however, good luck!

I want everyone to know that Screamer hasn't been being played as though he was from the G1 cartoon. He's being portrayed as in the IDW comics. He is by no means a whiny, conniving traitor. His intentions for becoming leader of the Decepticons has been to bring about what Megatron wanted before he finally became the tyrant he is now. Screamer is interested in bringing peace about and getting ridding of the caste system.
If he were to be portrayed as he was in the G1 cartoon no one would take him seriously in game.
I want everyone vying to apply for him to know that G1 cartoon portrayal can't be used. Keep that in mind before you make your decision to play him.

Cartoons and Dreamwave/IDW comics are all "G1" to me. And this iteration of the game is certainly IDW inspired, with other influences tossed in here and there, which I also like. We have a nice balance here.
But yes, the comics are the more evolved take on G1 Starscream. The comics have developed and matured him nicely, and he's been used in the game that way. But I see shades of all of it in his portrayal.

I agree with his evolving thanks to IDW's interpretation of him, but to include any part of his G1 cartoon perception would just break down what has been established in the game thus far.
Granted,he was a traitor and the bane of Megatron's existence, and sure he was portrayed that way in DW and in the beginning of the IDW comics, but unlike DW, IDW saw fit to evolve his character in to something more.
Turning back to what he was like in the G1 cartoon, or introducing a minute amount of that personality, would almost be sacrilegious.

I cannot echo Ember enough here, I could not stand the cartoon iteration of G1 Starscream, it's what put me off Seekers (well, him and there being a kajillion variations of them.)
Having said that, as the official reviewer of comics™ here I have had to pay a lot more attention to Screamer than I used to because of his involvement in the RID ongoing (and previous) and I hate to admit it but he is actually growing on me in his current form although Im pretty sure he'll turn traitor again soon.
Not enough for me to change my mind completely, but it shows promise.
I'm glad to see that you want a character like him to continue being played by a player, it frees the staff up and leader-characters controlled by players add an element of surprise to the game for everyone, it's a shame his last player couldn't keep it up.

I honestly like Starscream no matter what series he is in. (Well, maybe not BW, but he's only there for one episode.) Armada Starscream rocks, however, G1 Starscream is epic in a totally different way. And Animated Starscream is pretty cool too! And on the subject on the ongoing TF comic, I personally prefer More Than Meets The Eye.
...Oh yeah, and we went into lockdown at school due to a tornado.

As does everyone, its a more traditional 'comic' comic, the other is a long-burn detective novel. RID will mature into a great series as long as they can develop the intrigue and well written story, but MTMTE risks burnout with too many characters crammed into the same space.

I'm thoroughly enjoying both the comic series. Just seeing more characters in action in general turns the wheels nicely. And before long we'll have the continuation of the original Marvel series to throw more fuel on the muse fire.
Plus that online only series that I haven't caved in to buying yet...but probably will eventually.
It's a good time to be a fan, plenty of material out there to draw inspiration from.

Back the RPG for a second: Have edited my last post on the Thanatos slightly so Phaze doesn't have to wait on anyone else to get Crueljaw involved in the game. Hope that's ok.
The bots are total dicks to start with, but the reason why soon becomes apparent and the artwork is incredible in places. Its quite a dark story though, set just after Megatron origins so its really early in the TF timeline.
Issue 3 (I think) is yet another reason why Soundwave rocks harder than anyone else ever.
