Good day all!

For my first thread, I'm going to request you denizens of Seibertron to help me decide on my next major TF purchase.

I'm torn between MP Megatron and two Encores, Optimus Prime and Jazz. They cost roughly the same and since they are available to me at the same time, I'm having trouble which I should prioritize. My budget is good enough for MP Megs or the two Encores.

Your opinions will be very appreciated.

well, I guess those figures are the ones I want the most and are available to me. I don't have G1 Prime or Jazz. And Megs, you just said it best.

if you actually play with your toys, get the encores. if you are just going to display then, then get megatron (especially if you already have the MP-01).

I don't own any of them at the moment, so I should probably keep my mouth shut, but ...

MP Megatron ... all the way. Not even a 2nd thought about it.

I don't know about the Encors, but reissu Jazz was quite nice.

well...ask yourself.

Do you like mp's better or G1's?

If you are focused more on an mp collection then pick up megs

if you have more of a g1 collection then get the reissues.

or bite the bullet realise you want them both equally and flip a coin.

(if you are disapointed in the outcome then buy the other )

Megatron is harder to get, so I would get that if I were you. Just keep in mind that he's an expensive and fragile (by design, not defect) display piece that isn't meant to be transformed on a regular basis. And an impressive one at that. However if a TF just sitting there on a shelf isn't your idea of cool/fun, maybe he's not for you.

Encore Jazz won't be out for awhile, and you should still be able to find Encore Convoy at a later date for a still-reasonable price, so that's why I would hold off on them if I were you.

Just to add persective, my MP-05 is carefully packaged and hidden from entropy in my attic, in his cherry mint sealed box. His upgrade is equally sealed like the ark of the covenant.

That's my idea of fun with this item. My leader prime, brawl, and movie megs are the TF's I "beat up." the rest of my movie's are still MISB.

On a VERY special day, probably when I finally finish my PhD, and I have a glass case, I will don archive gloves and spend 3-4 hours opening, transforming, and setting up MP-05 for display.

Again, perspective...

I've read your review Dead Metal and I must say I'm leaning towards that MP Megs. You didn't have any of that rust problem did you?

I've read your review Dead Metal and I must say I'm leaning towards that MP Megs. You didn't have any of that rust problem did you?

No rust at all, but I did think I had so I riped his feet of, just to discover that it was just my fingerprints reflcting the ceiling.
Yea I wanted to clear coet his feet, but I put them back on, it was a pain, so I don't recommend doing what I did, I say aslong as you display him good, he'll be the best fig you'll ever have.

Definitely! I have had no problems with him at all, but I've treated him very carefully. Do the same when you get yours and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I say buy all three too. Jazz wont be released till next year, Prime will be around for a while at a good price, and Megatron can be had now at BBTs. So, buy Megatron first, save some money and buy Jazz when he is released the Prime shortly thereafter. Im by no means a rich man but there is no reason you cant have all three with a little saving and patience. Its only $200.00 were talking about.

Go for the MP-05, he's a collection defining piece. Get the upgrade kit too if you can swing it. I got my upgrade kit today and those metal calf pieces really improve his balance and poseability. Just keep in mind this isn't a figure that can really be handled a lot and the transformation is nerve racking. I doubt I ever transform mine into gun mode again. Besides like others have said Jazz doesn't even arrive until 02/08 and encore prime will probably be widely available for some time.

Reviewing your replies, it seems that 6 out of 11 Seibertronian favored MP Megs! 3 abstained or not to buy any and 2 suggested to get them all.

I've decided to get MP Megatron. MPs are only released once a year. This may be the best time to get him at the best price.

Get the MP Megs. You can get Prime (and Jazz, eventually) much cheaper. Hell, if you know who to talk to, you can probably get an Encore Prime for about 55 shipped.
