New Heads Available, and Update!

Postby Sculpt-Bot » Thu Aug 31, 2006 3:09 pm

Okay all! It has been way too long since I have posted an update, and I sincerely apologize for that. I have been working on a lot of commission work, as well as starting a new full time job, so that has cut down on my time with the custom heads. Shown here are some of the most recent heads, some were done for commissions, others strictly for casting. I am now casting them myself, so any of the heads are available as singles (this includes the remaining pieces I have from the first set Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Sideswipe/Red Alert, Ironhide and Soundwave.) Each head is $10 postage paid in the US (not much more for International Shipping). If you commission a head from me, and are okay with me doing additional casts for sale to others, the cost will be $20 for the piece. This is to cover the materials and time commitment that I would be investing in something I may not be doing normally. If you ask me for a commission that I already have in the works, I will let you know. Any commissions that are requested as yours only ( or are too obscure to be sellable to others) will be $30 each, unless we work out a different deal. Anyway, on to some pics. Gears, Brawn, Springer, and Beachcomber are all Alt sized heads that are very easily adapted to an Alt body. Magnus, Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge, are all similar sized, but because of head adornments would probably not be usable on an Alt body, but may be able to be worked into a Voyager class or bigger. Magnus was specifically made for the Laser Prime mold, and is sized well for that.

I did (very quick!) paint ups just to show some of the detail that may not be visible in the castings.
Any questions please PM me. Comments are always welcome!

wow these have gotten better then the other sets, i wish i had some cash for the new minibots ,

the cliffjumper one i got was great but i was thnking since the origional is one piece how about casting them with latex moulds instead of the silicone, i think it woud dbe cheaper and have no cast lines round the sides

Beachcomber, Brawn and Gears are all single piece molds, so moldlines are non existent on them. The others though, are just a little too intricate to have a single piece mold. Let me know if you ever want one of the minis. I always liked your Beachcomber bash!

Looking good man and i'm glad to know that you have been getting so much buisness.

I specially like the Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge heads...

the thing I don't like is just how crappy your pics are...you really could use some better pics to sell them better.

Also, lastely, i'm glad that you are casting them yourself but here's a little tip...

Resin can be casted in colors if 1/10th of the mixture is actually enamel paints. So basicly think of the amount of mixture you need for each head and add about 5-7 drops of enamel paint to it to cast it in colors.

I'm sure your customers would like it if the majority of their head was casted in it's original colors because the less paint you have to apply to the surface the less chance of scratching the paint off. If it happen to be casted in colors and ends up scraping durring transformation then it won't be noticable as much as if it was complately painted.

I hope that tip helps you out a bit. I'm pretty sure it would sell alot better as well.

One question though....Do I get discounts? :P

JK

Good luck man and please try to keep this section updated as soon as you possibly can. I would hate to have to take the section out due to dis-use.

Those are some brilliant sculpts. I can't help thinking, though, that the Beachcomber head actually reminds me more of Hook...

One thing that might be interesting to do for an Ultra Magnus head is make one that fits over the new Classics Ultra Magnus’ (or Prime’s) head, just like the G1 toy does. I doubt I am the only one planning on building a trailer for that model which becomes armor.
