Re: Transformers Generations SELECTS Series Discussion
Weren't the Masterforce Seacons mindless drones limited to their beast mode beside Turtler? Doesn't that mean Japanese Seacon would lack robot modes?

In masterforce wasn't all the limb components like drones and there were like a great many of each and turtler was in control

Btw another neat, obscure-completionist detail: if Piranacon/King Poseidon gets a full release (and not just Snaptrap/Turtler) it means the Nine Demon Generals are ALMOST fully complete beside Black Zarak.

Hasbro would ask... no demand their robot modes. The toys still had them, including the art.

If I were trying, I would probably use the Dark Scorponok from Cybertron. Which also close but not Blqck Zarak but at least it you know, transforms

They all had capes and headgear and accessory weapons, but I dont think there were any structural changes to the Generals otherwise

Well, this is awesome news!
The final scramble combiner, I'm really hoping they do the whole team.
Though now, if this ends up being a Takara initiative only, that means this is going to be an expensive team to get, one component at a time, considering the standard Star Convoy has set.
It also surprises me that we are going to get a Seacon before a Monster Pretender, considering that one was teased what, a year and a half ago?
It also gives me hope that Selects could end up giving us the remaining Combiners in some form, and act as that collector-oriented line in that form.
Also kinda funny how much info we have learned about the line, but the first 2 revealed STILL aren't out, Armada prime is still a bit of an enigma, Greenlight was revealed but we've got little else, and we are supposedly getting Lancer, so there is a ton of stuff right now that is all up in the air.

Greenlight and the supposed Lancer aren't Selects figures (or at least we know Greenlight isn't), they're just regular Siege exclusives. I do want to know where my Ricochet is though...

Speaking of Greenlight, do we know how she is being released yet? I really hope she (and Lancer) come out soon, especially becuase I just got Novastar and Chromia and figured out how to integrate Chromia into Orthia.

Greenlight is an amazon exclusive in the siege line, she is not a select figure. Its the same as Nemesis Prime last year, he was revealed months before we got any other info and being available for purchase.
Think of it like those walgreens exclusives that we know are coming for certain but wont see for months.

Hooray for Decepticon pirate Blastoise! He even looks like he transforms differently than I was expecting, which makes him more interesting!
This does make me question two things though:
1. How many accessories is this guy going to have? We're shown here his sword, shield, and gun, which was missing from the original silhouette, but since he's made from a PotP torso, shouldn't he also have combiner feet and an Enigma? Or are the Seacons going to use CW HFGs?
2. His gun looks loaded with weapon ports, which is cool especially with WFC happening, but does that mean that Piranacon/King Poseidon is going to have a combined gun like Takara's Computron? And more importantly, if yes, is that going to replace the Targetmaster limb gimmick?
1. I can see it going either way. On the one hand, he might have a compartment for his Enigma like Hun-Grr does, and I don't think it's out of the question for them to have left the feet out of the picture even if he does have them simply because they'd look inelegant and he's carrying enough stuff already. On the other hand, it's a drastic enough remold that it could be just as easy to get rid of them. Personally, I'd be in favor of having at least two of them use CW HFGs since they make better hands than the Prime Armor, as well as being better accessories when the figures are separate
2. Let's be honest, there is no way in hell they'd get the Seacons' Targetmaster gimmick to work for a CW/PotP style combiner. Aside from the engineering difficulties that would present, especially when they're working with retools rather than making the molds from scratch, deluxe-sized Targetmaster would just be too heavy for Piranacon to hold up.
I was hoping this would somehow turn out to not be Snaptrap, because making a Piranacon that replicates the abilities of the of the original while still meeting modern expectations of posability and stability just doesn't seem feasible, and just making Snaptrap without the other Seacons would result in "Where's the rest of them?" complaints for years on end. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

What if the "Targetmaster" used the same gimmick as Siege Cog and Sixgun? Thunk about it, all of the Seacons had detachable guns anyway, and Overbite had detachable shark arms (yes I just wrote that).

Re: Transformers Generations SELECTS Series Discussion
Takara only means maybe we can get a Unite Warrior style box set out of these. I think there are some great, logical retool options that can make it happen. A friend suggested we might see a retool of Skrapnel for a targetmaster lobster guy (and a sixth in the box like Computron.) I think that's a feasible option.
I can't see them putting this much thought and hype into it without finishing out the set. I'm optimistic and watching for more.
Sheesh, if they went to the trouble of Big Powered, they're gonna do this right.

With brand unification that went out the window I'm afraid. Any shared lines like Selects will be similar if not identical in execution.

So...we have Selects.
Mall Exclusives (which some may or may not be imported by Hasbro Pulse as Selects), Amazon Exclusives, and 35th anniversary coming down the line as well. Add to the confusion, that in different countries these are distributed differently...
. I wonder if all the Generation's sub-lines (other than the main line and Studio Series), should all just be merged together in one thread or what...???
