oh. NOT trying to discuss it but...
i really love how Adventure quest worlds does weapons. all weapons do same damage by level. a lvl 5 axe and a lvl 5 mallet do the same damage. its all about how you want the char to look. to make variety some weapons are drops or certain shops only. you can upgrade your weapon at a shop to give your weapon a level and you can upgrade it. No more weapon drops above your level. find a "template" make the thing. you could also make some weapons deal static damage with some others a little more variable (15-25 instead of 20 for example) give equip slots to those for secondary ability's like more betters damage or stun or what ever you want and you have a balanced diverse set of weapons..
also "critical hits" in the new game. not constantly like in pokemon. but basically on the RNG ad an "if #=(highest number)" damage mutiplier , and maybe upgrades to add to crit number.
And having armor based off end and rank could be a good combo. just end would make high end chars meat shields, but again this assumes the new game resembles the current one.

In no particular order...
1) Beast Modes
2) Not having to hunt down the alt mode you want (Don't mind Alt rotation, but having to play until the alt you want "drops"? Really irritating.)
3) Beast factions, even if just as Bot/Con with different badges)
"Partner" robots (Minicons, Targetmasters, etc.)
4) Meaningful non-time intesive play options for those of us who are lucky to average 2 or 3 hours a day playing the game sometimes.
5) Narrower level bands. I dislike having to face level 3 characters with my level 1 team.
6) The option to send multiple members of my team into the same mission.
7) Triple-changers.
Man thats what I was going to say. Oh well I guess better weapons and armor would be good. Also better abilities of the bots

If it' not too much of a hassle, maybe make the add a mission script take into account the tactics and tech specs of a character and not just it's level.
So say there's 2 different missions a level 2 could get into. One is a 10 vs 10 battle royal and the other is a smaller 4 vs 4. A strafer or repairer would spawn the 10 vs 10 more often than 4 vs 4, while a rammer or avoider would be more likely to get the 4 vs 4.

On Titles:
How difficult would it be to institute a ranking system via titles in game? Maybe everyone starts off as a Grunt or Trainee or whatever. Then to advance up the rankings you would need to earn it via a mission. Levels could be tied into this by having a minimum level requirement to enter a particular mission where the next title is earned.
On Missions:
I think this may have been brought up before and/or it may be something that would be best held off on until an expansion.. I just wanted to throw this out there though.
I would like to see the inclusion of slotted missions that would only start when the mission was full on both sides (Or possibly an extended 1 hour time for these missions to fill but starting automatically if filled before then) Each side could be assigned certain criteria that needed to be met to join in a particular slot.
Example: Defense of Moonbase 1
Autobots [5]
1. Communications - Req 4 Logic, 4 Int
2. Medic - Req 4 Int, 4 Repair
3. Scout - Req 4 Speed, 4 Avoid
4. Defender - Req 12 Combat Stats (Sum of Str, Firepower, Strafe, Speed, Courage, Ram)
5. Defender - Req 12 Combat Stats (Sum of Str, Firepower, Strafe, Speed, Courage, Ram)
Decepticons [10]
1. Commander - Req 30 Total Stat Points
2. Squad Leader - Req 5 Int
3. Grunt - Req Maximum of 20 Total Stat Points
.... 4. through 7. .....
8. Grunt - Req Maximum of 20 Total Stat Points
9. Initiate - Req Maximum of 5 Total Stat Points
10. Initiate - Req Maximum of 5 Total Stat Points
Or maybe a something like this:
Autobot Text: Put your training to the Test -
Whilest engaged in a simple training exercise an autobot training officer and several of his trainees are ambushed by several decepticons. Can the trainees work as a team or will they be slaughtered by the decepticon onslaught?
Special Reward - Title: Training Officer
Awarded to Training Officer Slot upon victory
Special Reward - Title: Survivor
Awarded to any Trainee slot still functioning at end of mission
Decepticon Text: Slaughter of the weak -
Having discovered a small training outpost in sector G, Megatron has instructed one of his newest officers to dispatch of these untrained autobots to prove his worth. Gathering two grunts to accompany him they depart for the slaughter.
Special Reward - Title: Lieutenant
Awarded to Raid Leader Slot upon Victory
Autobots [6]
1. Trainer - Minimum Level 30 / Maximum Level 50
2. Trainee - Maximum Level 10
3. Trainee - Maximum Level 10
4. Trainee - Maximum Level 10
5. Trainee - Maximum Level 10
6. Trainee - Maximum Level 10
Decepticons [3]
1. Raid Leader - Minimum Level 30 / Maximum Level 50
2. Grunt - Minimum Level 20 / Maximum Level 30
3. Grunt - Minimum Level 20 / Maximum Level 30
Of course setting up a a few dozen missions like this would take time to write plots for, testing and balancing combinations of forces to ensure one side wasn't overpowered in an unbalanced number of characters per side fight. Also I don't know how/if you plan on adding in titles via missions, you could easily substitute diffrent rewards though or expand rewards to every victorious participant.
These types of missions could add flavor to the game and fun giving newer players a chance to participate in a mission with higher level players and lead to more variety in the way people build their bots statistically... IE if people know that there aren't many active players using a decepticon with 6 int and there's a need for a 6 int bot in a particular mission maybe you'd see more configuarations having it.
------------------------------------
Also if there's anything specific you're looking for help with in creating this I'd be happy to volunteer some of my time. I'm a programmer for a database company but most of what we work with here is in SQL and Foxpro. I haven't done any coding in anything else in a few years.
Hopefully I haven't bored anyone too much. I also understand how much work is involved in coding / testing programs so if any possible implementation of anything above needs to wait for an expansion thats totally understandable.
Thanks for reading.

Not a bad idea, as long as you can't gain XP from it. I believe Burn's Challenge Arena covered that though.

To easily abused. That's all I'm gonna say about it, since we're not supposed to debate the stuff on this thread.

Even if it's only half xp, there's still a huge chance of abusing that ability

This is how the arena is going to work for now. It may get changed in the future but at release ... Anyone will be able to challenge Anyone. No XP will be awarded for these fights, they are merely for bragging only. I am thinking about putting in a energon wager system, but for now it won't be part of the initial release. The focus for the game will be the mission map. This will be the only way to gain XP in the game.

The ability to put more than one member of your TEAM into a mission. Seems a bit counterintuitive if your team can't work together as one.

The lightbulb just went off in my head.
How about win/loss percentages for your transformers and a % of who you beat the most and get clobbered by the most?
Don't know how the programming would work on that one...

a little more "instant gratification" would be nice. any other game lets you gain a few levels the first couple days. we don't need to be level 0, or 1 (or any level really) for months and months.

The way it seems like it's going to work is XP based, not skill based so it should be relatively easy to pick up some lower levels fairly quickly, depending on how much you play.

I wouldn't be so sure... the level system will be somewhat different, and you wont be able to bully the lowest level opponents quite so much as you rise through the levels next time around.

The way it seems like it's going to work is XP based, not skill based so it should be relatively easy to pick up some lower levels fairly quickly, depending on how much you play.

that SEVERLY favors RoS and myself at the moment
I wouldn't be so sure... the level system will be somewhat different, and you wont be able to bully the lowest level opponents quite so much as you rise through the levels next time around.
even better. as long as i don't have to look at the same stuff for months on in. adding a % is better than nothing

Yeah, feel free to help and expand on the stuff that will be in it, then the staff can actually concentrate on the expanded game you are after...

Throwing this in here from an e-mail we received.
I have an idea for an addition for ether an update for the current HMW or the new HMW V2. It's Team Battles. These battles consist of two teams that meet these certain conditions:
1. Both teams must agree to a battle
2. Both teams must have the same amount of teammates
The battle will last for 1 hour at max or until one team loses. There will be a 3 hour waiting period for anyone waiting for a response to a challenge. If the timer runs out, then nothing happens except for that the challenger will receive some money and experience. If a battle is successful and a victor emerges, the amount of experience and energon they receive will be calculated just like how the the missions are currently. The catch is that they receive a single amount of energon but each teammate will receive a separate amount of experience points. Please consider this idea.

Re: Your HMW 2.0 Wishlist
i dont know if this is the right place to post it.
single player/team gauntlet missions/quests
missions would be derided in to steps ,say 5 step for this demo .
the first 4 would be randomly selected randomly from a list , could be some nasty bugcons ,a trap or obstacle needing a particular set of skills to pass , an energon spring to patch up your TF's , the last step would be something relay nasty to fight , assuming atreast one TF makes it to the end , you get a reward like a weapon or artifact... or just a pile of energon.
a variant could be that 2 teams are after the same treasure and at the end of the mission would be duking it out with each other for the prize .
i think this could be coded with a modified arena script .
