You know what they should do?

Star Wars Battles.

Get everyone together, and have the good guys be on one side, and the bad guys be on the other, and have everyone fight everyone else.

The only problem is that I'm quite sure most people there are with the Empire.

Zombie Starscream wrote:Hey CB, When you join the 501st, is it mainly an online thing, or does everone also meet in a building and act out their character and stuff too? How often does the 501st meet?
And lastly, can there only be one of a certain character at a garrison at a time, i.e one Darth Vader, one Emperor Palpatine etc., or can there be more than one?

1) Not online thing (there are forums but we actually meet up)
2) We "troop" at local fund raisers and children's hospitals
3) We meet occasionally for "armor parites" where everyone helps everyone else with any stormtrooper, bounty hunter, etc.. costume issues or assemblies. We barbecue and hang out for these.
4) There is no limit to how many characters as when we troop, we split up and some go one way and some go the other way.
5) We do not Larp or act out our characters
6) We take pix with kids or whomever wants to have a pix with stormtroopers, sith lords, bounty hunters, etc..

Even though my membership is pending I still go out and troop with my local garrison.

Trooping is not a competition..
WTF is wrong with you? You seem to think that everything is some sort of competition.
When are you going to learn that It is not about outdoing anyone, with the 501st it is all about the kids.

(Yes I saw your emoticon at the end.. and it means nothing)

It is not a competition to out do anyone, that is my point.

CB, I have looked up the 501st web site. But I was wondering, whats the differance between a garrison and an outpost? Are outposts smaller than a garrison?

Ok.
I am with the The Bast Alpha Squad of Star Garrison.
A garrison may encompass a multi state region so to keep things orderly there are squads in the states that a garrison may cover..
Outposts are out of country garrisons.
EX the Austrian Outpost is of course based in Austria.

Does this make sense?

Damn, those guys in the good suits (The Stormtroopers and Vader) really make me feel bad about my Darth Vader Suit. (Which is essentially the toy Darth Vader helmet, and any black clothing I can find)

The plus side is that it's actually quite easy to slip on and off (As quick as taking off a sweatshirt), is probably less sweaty (Though very sweaty indeed), and I can go to the bathroom without taking anything off.

Okay, the gloves and the helmet go when going potty, and the cape if it's Number Two, but simplicity is convinient.

They probably home-made their suits, but that can cost a lot depending on where you get the materials from. I wish I had a nice Maul suit, but I'll only be able to afford the kind a few steps up from the cheap Halloween costume.

I tried on most of the suit. (I got the pants, but I don't have the cape yet)

Two problems: 1) It gets hotter than hell inside that helmet (How did David Prowse survive?!) and 2) The heat causes the lenses to fog up, making it impossible to see.

So, for the lightsaber fight video Tweezrrr is doing, I'll probably be stereotypical "Jedi With a Cyborg-Hand, With Glove To Cover It."

Or maybe I'll be Luke. :-?

I tell you that anakin costume is pretty hot.
Two long sleeved tunics (inner and outer), those tabards and the obie cloth belt and New Orleans climate just do not mix.

And the TK armor is hot too.

I bet the Wookiee costume must be the hottest of them all  I wouldn't want to be wearing that thing in the summer, it looks extremely warm.

Try this: Majik Spray

It might help with the fogging. It works pretty good on the AirSoft Field.
