I think I like the movie now

I watched the movie again, and I have to say it is about 100 times better the second time. I think the first go around I was jaded by my love of G1. I expected too much of it to be like what I remembered of the old cartoon, which I still love today.

However, I still think the new voices are awful. And It bugs me that Frenzys head can turn into a little bitty cell phone. I thought Bay said no mass shifting?

I really had no problems with the voice actors. The Decepticons don't speak much, and I felt that the voices for the Autobots fit pretty well. You can't really complain about Prime and Bumblebee only had about one line. BB's voice was a little weird but had I heard it more throughout the movie, I'd probably have had time to get used to it.

I didn't like it as much the first time either. After seeing it 3,4,5 times it's really grown on me.

The only problem I had was Ironhide's voice. They made him all tough and macho like he always should've been and gave him a pansy British accent. Ironhide's about Texas barbeque and big freakin' cannons, not tea and crumpets.

I found it disappointing the second time.

But I got it on netflix, and I'm looking forward to the extras and Michael Bay's commentary.

Also showing my parents and my old spinster aunt the scenes of Blackout ruining the army's **** and Barricade screaming down at the camera, making us feel like the little girls we truly are.
Buy my RiD toys! They're awesome, I promise!!!!

QFT! When did southern-boy Ironhide turn limey??? And wouldn't it have been awesome if Cullen had done Ironhide's voice again, as he did in G1?

I think he probably ment he didn't want to do any overly obvious mass shifting. I can see frenzy's head turning into a cell phone, (Within the realm of sci-fi alien transformation technology.) that doesnt bother me. Now seeing Frenzy mass shift to the same size as a bigger transformer (like Sound wave did in G1.) would have bothered me.

Whoa. Wait a second guys, that ain't fair.

Some of the best film villains of all time have been British. One of the best film heroes ever (James Bond) is British.

Whether or not they're good or evil, a British accent adds an air of quality to the character, fake or not. If anything, that actually made me appreciate the Movie Ironhide better than the original.

Smart, battle ready, wise, guntotin' Ironhide?

or...Battle ready, redneck "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!" gun nut Ironhide?

....I'll take the Movie Ironhide. Thanks.

And remember, the Movie Ironhide was testy and defensive because of all that he's been through, all that he's seen, plus he's used to expecting the worst. And he's the weapons expert.

And "Limey"? Yeesh. >_<

That's not really what I'm talking about.

My problem isn't with British accents in general. My complaint is specific to this character. It just didn't seem right to me that they would take pains to make Prime and Jazz sound like their original selves, then change Ironhide's voice so drastically. Whatever your opinion on what constitutes a "quality" accent, there's no denying that the gun-totin', eager-to-kick-Decepticon-butt Ironhide is the original. And I like original things.

To sum up my position: British heroes and villains aren't bad. But Ironhide isn't British, never was British, and shouldn't be British now!

Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps giant robots from beyond the stars might not ALL sound American? :P

I will repeat this again--I have nothing against British (or other) accents in general. I am talking about the ORIGINAL Ironhide's Southern accent, not some vendetta against every other accent in the world! I wanted Ironhide to sound like Ironhide. Apparently this desire is not shared by all... hey, to each their own. Just don't try and make my comments into something they're not. 'K, folks? ;;)

I didnt even notice a british accent on Ironhide. He's voice just sounded sort of "gruff" to me. Which I thought suited the character. :-? ...Oh well.

Hey I wasn't getting uppity or anything - merely poking fun at the fact that they speak in English and mostly with an American accent rather than with some other one. Hell, given how advanced TFs are, one wonders why they bother with vocal communication at all :P

Can't say I ever noticed a Brit accent on IronHide. The whole, "You feelin' lucky,...punk!" thing didn't strike me as British.

Showing the kid my cannons
he sprayed lubricants on my foot
that's gonna rust
bad mojo
yeah that looks like fun
the parents are very annoying, can I take them out?
Just saying, it's an option
It's Starscream
Sam, run, we'll cover you

Eh, I don't see it, I'm thinking of all the lines he said in the movie and I really don't hear a british accent.

I could see Ratchet having a british accent though, he seemed more 'proper' then some of the other Autobots.

Maybe Ironhide got into watching reruns of Sharpe's Eagles and started to sound like Sean Bean.

Um, folks, Ironhide and Barricade were played by Jess Harnell, the same guy that voiced Captain Hero on the show "Drawn Together" for those that have seen it ? A completely wrong and raunchy show but in a good way, it's completely politically incorrect and then some!
Anyway, it was Bumblebee that had the British voice actor named Mark Ryan doing his two lines in the movie. :P
