ever felt ashame to admit yourself a transformers fan?
i guess most people who likes to brag about their knowledge inside and out on a particular subject such as star trek (trekkies) or star wars. these guys can remember every lines and stories on every single episode. sometimes when you go overboard on telling something like transformers so detailed. people will think what a nerd, he must have no life. i myself is not a hardcore fan of the series, in fact i've not watch the original series, only a few of them. so i guess i'm not qualified as a true transbot fan. people felt like expressing their knowledge on a cartoon series make them look smart or cool. in my mind i will feel embarrassed if i know too or way too much about it. so do you feel ashamed to let someone know that you're a hardcore nerd?

I don't know if I can call myself a Transformers fan or not. Collected some movie figs because of the movie. Had some childhood memory of G1.
Then after movie hype die down, I find myself reluctant to buy more of these figs. Basically, I prefer jets. So after a lot of hype about this 08 Bumblebee still doesn't get me enthusiastic about this toy. Basically, I can say I don't like car robots after all.
And the thought of having lots of toys in my room doesn't get me excited at all, only made me feel uncomfortable. I quess that is what separates a casual collector and a real fan.

Nah, I have all my Binaltech figures and Unicron on display in my cube at work. People walk by all the time and comment on how cool they are. I collect comics as well and have never felt ashamed about my favorite hobbies.
It's really no different than the ladies here at work that are fanatical about scrapbooking or our CIO that collects coins. To each his own I suppose.

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

I'm good with admitting I'm a TF fan, though I don't like admitting it to little children or parents with 7-10 year old kids, cause they seem to think that because 7-10 year old's like it then it's wrong for a 17 year old too. Usually I'm wouldn't mind, I don't know I just find it weird when someone says "oh my 8 year old collects those!"
I recently moved stuff around in my room to make a shelf for my movie & Beast Wars figures, & the first time my parents came in the room it felt awkward, but after that it was fine.

My mom still does not understand and when she comes over she still claims to get a headache looking at all of them. She has stated though that collecting something mundane by her standards like these is a far cry and better than collecting something violent like AK47s and going postal on people's asses.

I don't have any problems admitting I'm a fan, but I do feel embarrassed when searching through the toy aisle for TFs... check out is no problem, though

I've got no problem admitting I collet Star Wars Miniatures, Comics, and now Transformers. I'm a nerd and I'm not gonna bother trying to pretend I'm not. Only time I really shy away from admitting it is when I simply don't have the time to go into detail.
Though for those of you who have your stuff displayed at work, I'm surprised you feel safe leaving it out. Aren't you concerned it might get stolen or broken or something?

I say do what you like.
If collecting bots make you happy, why feel any shame for that?
A woman with 100 pairs of shoes is common.
A man collecting hundreds of parts to restore a classic car is common.
Stamps, Coins, concert tickets, autographs. These are all commonly collected items, none of them are any more valid than collecting Transformers.
If someone tries to make you uncomfortable about your collection, pity them. They may lack the ability to recapture their youth as an adult, and that is a real shame for them.

I feel that way too. The cashiers look at me and ask "So you are a fan?" Feel like the 40 year old virgin. Thank God I am married and have a ring on.

I call myself a big Transformers fan...
I have a collection of over 1400 different Transformers and of course some of them are displayed in my living room.
About 10 years ago I had nothing on display in my living room except for one bar in the display cabinet.
Only one girlfriend had a laugh the very first time she came into my livingroom.
I have never been ashamed to say that my hobby is Transformers; I can actually say I am proud to be a Transformers collector. How many toy collectors can say that a their hobby features in its own top draw blockbuster movie?
People that were ashamed were former girlfriends telling their friends that her boyfriend is collection toys. One of them actually named me Furby... but that's okay...
Furby is a nice nickname...
Just take the goods and the bad... and turn the bad into something good as well!

I was wondering that as well. You can use another word in its place but in the end I guess one could say do you feel akward since they are meant for kids. I hear you though CP.

God no I'm not ashamed... My house is like a toy museum. Hell the only problem with admitting to it in groups of people is that their usual response is "man kids must love your house!" and I'm like... these are not for kids...

I have no shame about it but I am careful who I tell or how I reveal my hobby to others. I never know how people will react to someone who has all of the G1 eps, Beast Wars eps, Beast Machine eps, and a 500 figure collection.
I'm sure some people have thought me weird, juvenile or eccentric. But since I have a very hot wife that supports my hobby because it makes me happy I can't say I worry too much about what other people think. Plus I have other interests so I don't leave the impression that TF's rule and consume my life.

Collection Count: Just enough G1 & Classics to make this look good!

Nope, I'm not.
What are they gonna do? Bully me?
I'll hand em their own ass, Brit style.

Well this is kinda weird for me. I'm almost 27 and married with a kid and I have almost all the movie toys. I dont feel embarrassed when they are in vehicle mode, but I do feel self conscious about it if they are all transformed and posed on a counter or dresser or something. So I'm not embarrassed to have pretty cool looking vehicle models on display, but I am when they are in robot mode.. odd.. i know...

I dont go shouting about that Im a tf fan, but nor do I shy from that fact. Transformers is but one part of me. I dont want to be known as JUST a transformer fan. However it is a large part of me (and an espensive part of me) and I am proud of my collection. Most people I know know that I collect tfs, and becuase it isnt the first thing they learn about me, they tend to accept it rather than question it (and anybody who sees my collection tends to be too busy being envyous to feel anything else about my collection
