Dredd was bread for his job and has been trained for it since his birth. Dude only requires half an hour of sleep, the other 23 1/2 hours he's out doing his job.

Chief was given Marine Corps training at age six, genetically and cybernetically enhanced for his job, and his enemies include ancient evils from beyond time and space. Including a giant, sentient mass of corpses.

And Dredd's day job is being a cop. Chief's job is to prevent the extinction of humanity at the hands of a cabal of alien religious zealots.

Judges (Dredd's occupation) are cops, juries, executioners, all wrapped into one, on top of that they are also the military in short they are all figures of authority in one package.

And again, Dredd was specifically breed to be the best in his line of work, and trained right from birth (being artificially aged to appear aged 5). He has had over 50 years of active on the field duty experience in which he's clashed with a multitude of powerful threats, and yes alien ones are also among these as are daemons.

And again, Chief was specifically modified, genetically and cybernetically (His bones are covered in the stuff space shuttle heat shielding is made of), to be the best in his line of work. And has 40 years experience fighting a war that, until his intervention, humanity was losing.

The chief. Dread might have a better handgun but that's about it.

Cheif's only in danger if he disarms Dredd and tries to use his gun.

MC, no contest. He single-handedly took out five elite soldiers at age 14, defeated an entire alien invasion force, and punches tanks to death on a regular basis. Dredd has no chance.

Dredd is getting quite old by now. However, he can still take out several Master Chefs single handedly.
