Telling him "There is no answer" is the answer, as there really is no answer.

He didn't ask, "What do you think Rumble will turn into?" Had he, I would have either thought up some altmode possibilities or would have gone with a simple "I dunno."

But instead, he asked, "What will Rumble turn into?" This is asking for a definitive factual answer, to which there is none available to us at this time.

Here's ratchet - too much white maybe? Also I think he looks kind of dumb holding those razors like that instead of coming out over his fists - from animated to prime - why can't they get his weapons right??

Are we sure that the powers-hat-be haven't decided to rename him "Dreadwing"? Or "Dreadwind"? I mean, it's not like we've seen them all together in a room at the same time....

(I also wonder when "Darkwing" is going to join the party?)
Nonsense. Skyquake was in the cartoon, voiced by Richard Green.

http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/4/4f/SkyquakePrime.jpg

And we've seen the prototype.

http://www.seibertron.com/images/events/189/r_sdcc-2011-hasbro-panel-035.jpg

Dreadwing, however, has not appeared yet, being confirmed for season 2, and to be voiced by Tony Todd.
You are assuming, of course, that Prime is going to stick to its "no reuse/recolors of character models" pledge and that Dreadwin$ will not be a prepaint of Skyquake's mold.

It seems strange that we haven't seen any solicits for a Voyager jet mold (that is not Starscream) that we've seen as a nearly-complete proto and have gotten solicits for another Voyager jet mold (that is also not Starscream), though stranger things have happened.
You were suggesting that Skyquake's toy got a name change, which is what I was refuting.
Hmmmm.

There are noticeable differences between the molds though

Deadwing seems to have more detail in the chest and he has extra flaps (wings?) at his waist. He also has that piece hanging over his head. Those little wingy things on his feet too are on the inside rather than the outside. Not to mention the normal wings in general look thicker.

...and one is a Cyberverse and the other is a Voyager. I'm pretty positive they represent the same CGI model on Prime, which is apparently being shared by Skyquake and Dreadwing.

Gotta get the more iconic characters out first. ;)

At least Skyquake had a whole episode to himself. While cliffjumper only ever appeared for less than 5 minutes total, and he already got 4 toys of him! #-o

While many of the Japanese releases from United and DOTM lines have "Made in Vietnam" stamped on them, the Takara First Edition Prime figures are all marked "Made in China." I think you may be on to something here...

Thanks for that info. I didn't think to check the packaging of mine before I discarded it.

Yes, they ship from the damned same factory. Same assembly line for Hasbro & Takara. They just load glitter paint when it's time to run the machines for Takara.

The wave boxes that ship the takara ones are IDENTICAL to Hasbro's! With no word "Takara" on the outside!

The only reason why it cost more is because they get shipped to Japan 1st, then to whichever collector shop who ordered it. ;)

Still,
Sabrblade wrote:As awesome as these look, I find Dreadwing being a Skyquake redeco pretty lazy. They introduce a character, kill him off, but still want to use his animation model, and so come up with this new guy whose body is shaped exactly like the first guy.

Here's a thought, Hasbro. If ya'll wanted to use this model, why'd to think it was a good idea to kill off the first guy so soon? Why not, you know, *not* kill him and then *use* him so the model doesn't get shoved onto someone else? >:oP

This is like if Beast Wars ever decided to kill off Cheetor or Tarantulas and replace them with Tigatron/Blackarachnia just to keep using the CG model.

I think you're misunderstanding what I was asking. I was wondering where the First Editions were manufactured (China) vs. the Robots in Disguise (Vietnam), not Takara vs. Hasbro versions of the same mold.

My theory is that the FE's were made at the tail-end of Takara's usage of Chinese factories, which might partially explain why the production run was so short and it's uncertain whether more can be made.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductive_reasoning :-B

I agree that turning the Skyquake proto into some dude named Dreadwing is kind of lame, but it certainly fits Hasbro's prior modus operandi. I'm suprised they haven't pull the same trick with Cliffjumper... yet.

(Also notable: the product photo for the Cyberverse Dreadwing is actually labeled "Deadwing." Perhaps the new name and voice actor is for an even deader Skyquake. :KREMZEEK:)
