I agree, and a healthy round of banning jackasses would send a message, even if it's not a permaban.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

Though, I dont see why ryan should be worried about that kinda stuff at all. He doesnt handle said transactions. Infact, they are private transactions. Somtimes with paypal involved.
Seibertron wrote:But if the transactions occur here on Seibertron and if someone sued, there's a small possibility that I could have to provide data or get dragged into a situation that I don't want to have anything to do with. I don't know what kind of legal ramifications I could get dragged into. I don't want to have to find out the hard way either. It's a liability that I don't want to have to worry about or deal with at this time. Plain and simple. It's something that you guys don't have to worry about ... but Ryan Yzquierdo does.

Disclaimer stating that you or the site is not responsible = your nose is clean...

Ryan I do respect you but that's a stupid idea.
I know admins can open any account on their website but this would mean that every admin would have to be peering into other members accounts to see if someone PMing "I have TF MOVIE RC 4 Sale" type message in their inbox.
Which is a waste of time and energy given the number of members that this site has.
Ramrider wrote:I doubt it'd be possible to sue him, as he's made it quite clear that he doesn't have any control over transactions and that they're taken at your own risk.
The main concern (aside from all the complaints he's had to put up with), as I understand it from one of his posts, is in regards to any legal proceedings that do wind up taking place.
Ryan may not be responsible for the transaction itself, but he is responsible for almost the entirety of the relevant evidence of the transaction, since a lot of it may well consist of PMs and forum messages on his servers. This would essentially make Ryan one of the prime 'witnesses' in a case he had nothing to do with.
The ramifications of this - which may include flying cross-country for court dates, taking time off work (and indeed time from working on more important aspects of the site, not that we're biased :P) and plenty of stuff I can't even think of right now - seem too much hassle to deal with over a small part of a forum, which is a small part of a site, which is Ryan's hobby.

If any of you can help me find out information about what possible legal ramifications there are for a forum such as Carbombya, that would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to show me some articles or parts of the U.S. law that will help me change my mind. Until then, I'm doing what I feel is necessary to cover my own ass as well as Seibertron.com's.
Ya'd think, wouldn't you? But the US government, last I heard, was trying to prosecute gambling sites hosted in other countries.DorkimusPrime wrote:pretty sure that the laws of the country where the site are hosted are the ones you're playing by.
Dagon wrote:Cyber Bishop wrote:Please stick to the topic.
Like I said I am working on someplace that you guys can go until we smooth things out here.
I'm sorry, I can't help it. When our Philosophers Forum was taken away, we had to gravitate to another thread about another closed forum in order to compensate......

I know that's off topic Bishop and I'm sorry, but I agree with whoever said it earlier in this thread: things around here are on the decline. The Philosophers, now Carbombya, what's next? I figure it's not your alls' fault as the moderators and the people running the works here, but it's due to some of our members being jackasses. I have no ideas for fixing the problems, I think I'm just weighing in. Ever since the summer it just seems that people are ruining our good time.....or at least parts of it. Sad.

Problem with that idea:
Not everyone here is based in the US. There were some B/T/S going on in Carbobmya that were overseas transactions. Not a lot, but they were there. If you're looking for laws on the subject as to what you could held responsible for... You'd need to look up laws for every country every user is based in. With that much brass up your ass, you could play the Star Spangled Banner out your butthole.
Also, I'd like to know something. What about messages in user signatures? Don't mean to point fingers, but Counterpunch's signature is what I'm talking about. How are these rules of no attempting to B/S/T going to change what's allowable in signatures?
