Anyone else feel that selling weapons in exchange for ANYTHING is a bit like holding something for ransom?

Come V2 when you're going to be more dependant on your faction members, i'd hate to see people missing out on weapons simply because some people won't part with them until they get something in exchange.

You're just one person, but what happens when others starting wanting "something in return" for a weapon?

It's bad enough people have to scrape energon together to buy a weapon in the first place, and if it's out of stock but someone's willing to sell them one and they then have to jump through more hoops to get it, how the hell is that fair?

I find it amazing that for years people have been jumping up and down about people hoarding weapons. Now people are blatantly saying "I have weapons to spare and you can have one but it's going to cost you" and that's suddenly acceptable?

Let me put it like this.

Real money, flattery, fan-fic/art ... ANYTHING in exchange for a weapon sounds like extortion to me.

That would be because it is. Hanging onto the weapon is kinda pointless, unless you're trying to get a character up to that weapon. People who are hanging onto dols or battleblades or whatever when they have no intention of using them is only hurting the game in the long run.

The simple solution would be to add a trading function directly to the game. If there are tradeable comodoties in the game world then there should be a trade process of some kind.

Im also not confortable with anything connected to real monies being used for trade in any computer game. Its bad enough other games I play give you the option to pay real £ to increase your game £. Its a dangerous precedent.

It's VERY much different.

This game is meant to be free. You just outright admitted you're looking to make a profit from it.

it's not much different from an art trade if you consider this weapon a work of art (and you know you do)

No, I consider a weapon a necessity in this free online game. It's got nothing to do with art.

What you're doing is holding people over a barrel and saying "awwww you want this weapon that's sold out? I'll sell it back to the inventory for you to buy as long as you do something for me in return".

It's extortion. Plain and simple. You or anyone else who does this have no right to demand/ask for something extra from another player in exchange for a weapon.

And what happens if the person wanting a weapon can't draw? Or can't write a fan-fic? What if the person really can't give what you're asking? Should they suffer because of your greed?

And don't give me some bullshit about how you're a Decepticon/Predacon and it's your "nature". V2 is going to require faction members to work together even more, if something like this is allowed then I can see sectors being lost because of the greed of some people. I just hope that whatever weapons system OS implements, it won't be possible for people like you to hoarde and extort other players.

I think you're missing a key point Burn was trying to make. The weapons aren't yours. They belong to the site. There for, you're not legally allowed to make a profit from it. COmparing it to selling Anime you -bought- is assanine. You paid -real- money for the anime, you own it (Well, depending on the laws there). You didn't pay real money for the weapons in the game. You don't pay real money for the game. Basically, you're attempting to scam real things for things you don't own. I'm pretty sure people have been banned from here for less then that. The best thing you could ask for is for them to donate energon to you, but then again, what would be the point? You'd get energon for selling the weapons.

The point of asking for an energon donation in exchange for the weapon is this Dreadwind. When you buy a weapon and sell it in game, regardless of whether it's been 5 seconds or 5 months you immediatly take a percentage loss on said weapon. I don't think it's that much to ask (and normally I don't ask for it) that you make the money back that you lost in the transaction.

As far as Sil is concerned an art trade is roughly the same as asking say (randomly picking an artist as an example) Charger for a trade: a picture of a fancharector in exchange for some Battle Blades for him. As long as both parties consider this fair what's the big deal?

However I do see what Burn's saying for the subscriptions, as they cost actual real money. But again, if both parties consider this to be a fair trade and it's ok with the mods what's the big deal?

Just read Mkall's post. The mods aren't ok with monitary transactions. But having not previously known that I don't think anyone should be punished for it.

All most everything you buy, in any game or real life, instantly loses value after you buy it. The second you drive a car off the lot, it drops in value by a large percentage. The minute you buy a game, take it home, and put it in your system, you lose over half the value of the game. Hell, as soon as you open the plastic on it you lose half the value. You know this when you buy the weapons. It's the risk you take when buying it, especially if you're low on energon. But how many of us who've been arround for even a little while are really hurting for Energon, aside from maybe Dynamax, but last I heard he was a gambling adict. If you're really hurting for energon, you can also -ask- for a donation. There are guys with more energon then they can spend before the end of V1. They'd be more then willing to donate. Plus, most of the people who would actually need the weapons are lower levels then those hoarding them.

If you are a low level con you can have weapons for free. but not Autobots. If they want weapons they'll have to get me to sell them. How? by giving me something back.
