Like this, I mean he would bypass the toy gun laws, since Gi Joe toys can be released without an Orange cap, and other military toys that don't resemble a toy hand held gun... and since he's a turret, he can be wielded by Soundwave, or Starscream and Skywarp like he has been wielded in the cartoons..same functionality.. and his Altmode is a mode inline with the likes of Galvatron's altmode as well.. so I ask you, and to those who report to Hasbro or browse this site..

Why not make the next G-1 toy Homage to Megatron a Turret??

I have it drawn up (but no scaner). I had an Idea a long time ago for something like this. I got the idea when I sat all day on a gun placement at a naval yard near me.

I was happy that HoS Megatron was symilar not so much in style, but in concept!

In trying to stay true to updated source material, I'd like it better than a tank.

Nah, Hind-D gunship. Superbly evil, and should be enough bulk for a good robot mode.

yeah, i mean he's a Freaking turret, so he can go to high ground, and survey his troops, and once the enemy advances, he can become a turret, and use his uphill advantage with a gunner or by itself as a defensive and quite powerful position..

this would be a toy that should have been done in the Masterpiece type product lines..but history had him as a hand gun so it's cool.. but going forward, because of the toy gun laws, he should and needs to be a turret.. with G-1 accurate coloring.. that toy, in my opinion, would be the hottest Megatron redux and would and could possibly overshadow the original, even more so if there was a Galvatron redux to progress to..

like if they just did a Megatron Turret design in Transformers Universe or Classics 2.0.. that would be sweet, especially if they fixed and modified the Optimus Prime Deluxe.. or made a better Voyager of Prime like his old body style circa G-1.. and offered it in a 2-Pack with the Voyager reimagined version.. and a Megatron turret/Galvatron 2-Pack.. that would be cool!!

In either case, I think the Tank Megatron toys have been in th right track, but fell short of looking like the original design.. and if you look at Galvatron he's a futuristic Laser turret or canon.. so a Gun turret makes sense as an Earth mode to progress to the Galvatron mode.. not to mention if pulled off right, you could concievably come out with a Robot mode that looks almost identical to the original G-1 model.. the Designers at HAsbro and Takara could easily figure that out..

it's basically the same principles..

the legs of the turret come together to form the feet, legs and waist...

the upper gun becomes the Body (Circa G-1 look)..

the front end of the turret becomes the back gun sticking up, but could swivel down under the arm like the original..

the detachable Scope becomes the arm canon, and Wolla!! a perfect G-1 Megatron updated and toy law abiding Megatron, that serves the original's purpose of allowing other decepticon bots wield him against their enemies, plus the accurate colors and likeness are there..it's a no brainer..

But here's the even cooler part, there could be upgrade accesories, like the extra Barrel extension, and a Back section that actually becomes a chair for the turret, bringing the concept even closer to the original..sigh.... I told you i should work for Hasbro.. :grin:

Still as tank bots go, i hear ya on the Armada front, except the articulation is where I have my issues witht hat toy.. but if we are talking about an updated G-1 model, the Nerfatron though fullfilling the role playing role, of holding megatron in your hands, would have been better served as having him become a Gun turret, and allow kids to use other bots to wield him.. instead of us..

So I liked the Robot mode of Nerfatron classics Megs.. it's the altmode that really should have been a turret, or artillery canon.. still all in all, I'd say that hasbro does have the time to concieve this idea into an actual toy.. as Liege evilmus said, he's had the design in drawing format for years now, as I have also had the concept in my head for awhile now.. until recently with my ever expanding digibash capabilities, i couldn't picture him realized.. but the designs I have presented are just ideas for you to get a sense of what is possible..

Had they did a Megatron Turret, I would be all over that like white on Rice!!! :grin:

Wow. Those pics, look cool. I kinda don't like Megatron alt. mode to be a gun. I know the G1 crowd may not like it, but I find it weird, for the Leader of the Decepticon, to Transform into a gun, and to have other Cons use him, it just doesn't feel right.

I mean, why would Megatron want a alt. mode that has others using him? I wouldn't mind if their was Transformers who Transforms into weapons, like Mini-Cons to help the bigger bots. But, the Leader of the Decepticons?

Anyway, though I may not like the idea of Megatron that Transforms into a gun, I really like skywarp's pics. I would really, buy that if it came out.

Thanks, i try my best to produce good Digibashes to accent what we are discussing.. though sometimes they suck.. but I'm glad this one turned out good.. lets hope Hasbro paid attention..

but on the subject of Megatron as a Gun.. I went through an explaination of this along time ago.. as for him being the best and Most evil of all the Megatron's based on his altmode..

It all goes back to the principle of Guns don't kill people, people kill people.. well Megatron is the ultimate evil, because he's not the one shooting you, he incites and makes his bots do it.. which is evil in itself, because Megatron ultimately isn't pulling the trigger.. he makes you do it.. which relieves him of the responsibility.. what's the most evil thing you can do.. get someone else to make that concious choice to kill while your obsolved of the actual act.. it's like a Mob Boss will order a Hit, but he's not pul;ling the trigger, some one lese is..

so on a phsycological level, Megatron is more evil then any of them.. he get's his men to do his dirty work..

And at the same time, when he's in Robot mode, he can blow you away himself.. but its more fun to use his subordinates..

And as I think in G-1, whern Megatron was in Altmode, due to the power consumption of him in Bot mode, he was more powerful as a Gun.. soi his full power could be brought to bare on the enemy as a Gun, and no energy was being diverted to his Bot form..

for Megatron's fusion canon, a Turret is the best idea.. it makes sense.. and I think is why Megatron should still be a Gun.. he's still mobile in Bot mode, just a Gun Platform in robot.. with one advantage over the G-1 Version.. he's bigger and more powerful as a Turret as aposed to a Hand Gun.. and on top of that..if in altmode, he's not helpless and needs a Bot, he can simply plop down on a Hill and defend himself as a self aiming turret..

the explanation could be used that conserving his ebnergies by having another bot use him for targeting allows him the maximum amount of energy to fire a full blast, obliterating anything in his path!!

Your idea of Megatron inciting others to do his dirty works, gives the Megatron a deeper darker characterization. That's a good way of making his character more "mature".

Personally I've always liked the idea of Tank Megatron.

A field gun would be cool too I suppose, but a tank is basically a mobile field gun.

For me megatron is megatron as long as he has a silver/gray color, a big @$$ fusion cannon and a bucket head

Tank Megatron is intimidating. Fits Megatron well. But he won't be able to fly in that mode. Or at least it that suit flying.

I'm one of those who never really liked megs being gun. A tank make loads more sense both as a toy and for him being an autonomous being.

Although i follow your mobster thought process. In all the best gangster movies the leader does give orders and have others do his dirty work for the most part but when they have to they're willing to kill and often in ways that make their underlings cringe, think dinero and his baseball bat, putting themselves at the top of the pile again. Because they're willing to do what other men are not.

One of the more interesting megs I've seen is that botcon exclusive one where he is some sort of mobile missile launcher/laser cannon. Something like that seems far more appropriate than a gun turret.

Mobile missile launcher? - the only one i could think you could mean is pre-earth beastwars megatron

Im currently looking for a good megatron to fit in with my Mish-Mash line up and I must agree, Megs should be a tank/Mobile Artilery. If I could design him id give him 2 are cannons and make him a twin cannoned death platform!
also is there a decent Tank megs thats aprox the size of a voguer?

Armada Megatron stands ata a similar height to a voager figure tho is a slight bit more bulky and imposing being closer to the ultra class, very good sculpt and a tank based megatron around the size you were after

Well see that's my point isn't it.. Megatron can be a Tank, he has many times over.. but each time he's a tank, he falls short of looking anything like what the G-1 version is supposed to look like.. However.. if they engineered a Gun turret like the one I was suggesting, they could invariably fashion an almost identical likeness to the Generation One version, with minimal differences and have a Megatron that could in fact be almost a double for the G-1 version in Botmode..

What's more is that a Tank, though mobile and functional as Megatron on his own, and it's a cool Idea, isn't the same as having him turn into a gun that other bots could use.. and to the point made earlier, yes a Mob Boss has his underlings use their own fingers to pull the trigger, but with the turret, Megatron can still pack a wollup in bot mode.. if he wants to.. it's just that he conserves more power as a Gun turret and can maintain a huge and powerful blast in turret mode, like that of his G-1 counterpart and his pistol mode..

I think a tank mode is great, and there are ways to make it look more like a G-1 bot..only, I still support the Gun turret Mode as a viable link between his early G-1 appearance, and his Galvatron form in season 3..

I just feel that in updating Megatron as a Homage to his G-1 format, should be done as a Gun turret, and not a cheapass toy either, but a really good and almost Masterpiece quality of design, in likeness to the original concept and Paint applications.. no grey..give us a really good representation in gun turret format, with playability from the rest of the transformers toys.. let's make a megatron that Starscream can aim and other kids can pretend he's using to fire him..

he may be more popular then any of the other variation designs...
