This absolutely baffles me. The score is one of the best things of the movie in my opinion. I guess I just assumed this would be a no-brainer that this would be released. Hello? McFly!

I say we start a petition. This is ridiculous. I really thought they'd release this. And truly what's so hard?! All they gotta do is take ALREADY RECORDED MUSIC and transfer it to CD for sale! They could cut that in one week! You gotta be kidding me they aren't planning a release on this.
I say start some official petition. I know this would sell well.

This is enormously dissapointing. I really wanted the music from "The Arrival" scene. Its honestly great work. I would definitely be on board with another petition to sony to get that CD released.
*As for those threatening to download it without paying....Its that kinda thing that would make Sony reluctant to release it in the first place, come on!

Sony Music sure knows how to screw fans over. They refused to release the complete Star Wars prequel scores save for Episode I's which leaves SW fans hopping mad. Now they're doing it to Transformers fans. Seriously, Sony Music is ran by either complete idiots or malicious villians.
And the Burger King website is still the only place to hear even a piece of Jablonksy's score. That's just sad. Really wanted to hear the Arrival scene parts.

Reading the article, I wouldn't read TOO much into the response. It's based on feedback from an online store, and not a statement from one of the higher-ups. If it works anything like the customer service positions I've worked in the past, they only have access to what's on the release catalog, and if there's no info in the database, they'll just give out that answer. I'd wait to hear from someone higher up before we say for certain the movie score isn't going to be released.
I'm also curious how Sony Music got the rights to the score... I almost wonder if their info is 100% accurate on that. But since they said they did the digging, I'll assume it's correct.

Well, who released the official soundtrack album? If it wasn't Sony, I'm not sure how they could get their hands on the score disc either.
I might be incorrect on that (most likely).

The soundtrack album was released by Warner Records. I think there was a similar response, in which they had no plans for the soundtrack album at this time, either.
It's not unusual for a score album to be released by a different company... Varese Sarabande is a pretty famous house for film scores, and often produce scores for movies that have "from and inspired by" albums from different labels. If Warner didn't buy the rights to the score, it could be shopped around to other labels that WOULD want to produce it.
Jablonsky got a score album for The Island, a film with a lot less commercial appeal, so I'd be a little shocked if TF didn't get one, at some point.

I've been backtracking through links and I have a feeling this whole thing is bogus. I don't know why Sony Music has control over the score when Warner Music has the soundtrack... Anyway...
The Knight Shift article links to a thread on the SuperHeroHype.com's forums where a user named Zophael says he contacted Sony Music's customer service and they told him they don't have any immediate plans for a score release. But if you jump back farther in the thread, you'll see a post from Bourne02, wherein he puts up this link - http://john.textamerica.com/?r=5791107 - to some guy's photo and video blog. The whole "Sony is doing the score CD" thing seems to be stemming from someone else's observation that the Sony logo can be seen in the image's lower left hand corner. Meanwhile, other people are trying to squeeze the info out of Sony on the score and coming up empty, but all their assumptions are based on this one blog image...which they aren't even sure is legit. The blog owner has a lot of photo manips and other stuff posted, so I don't think it's beyond possibility that the soundtrack cover is something he made up because he'd like to have the score, himself. (Plus I think that track he has up under "Frenzy Hacks Air Force One" is the Decepticon one that's been out for a while. I'm sort of out of the loop on some recent happenings...blame Deathly Hallows.) I've been looking for a way to contact him and ask him about the image, but it looks like you actually have to sign up for a textamerica account and just doing that is an $8.99 fee...don't think so!
So yeah...this whole thing sounds rather fishy to me. I don't know why a cover with Sony's logo would be online if Sony's got no immediate plans for release. And if the cover is legit, why does this guy have it and places like Amazon.com don't? I think The Knight Shift might be getting everyone into a useless online petition signing frenzy for nothing...especially if it might be aimed at the wrong company. =/ (And I could be wrong, here, but this is just what I feel based on the above observations.)

LAME.
Seriously, it's one of the better soundtracks I've heard in a while. Release the real soundtrack Sony. I want to own the music that made this movie great, not the cheesie band crunk being pushed with the Transformers name on it.

That's one franchise, and i'm well aware that there's more orchestral soundtracks than just the Star Wars movies.
I'm asking if anyone has any figures that shows how well orchestral soundtracks sell.
I am too lazy to search for figures, but I am confident at least the OST Score would sell very briskly, LIKE Star Wars, LOTR Score, et al.

Only 7 are soundtracks, and aside from Titanic, none are orchestral.
This is what i'm trying to find out, just how popular orchestral soundtracks are.
It's alright for us fanboys to jump up and down and scream "WE WANT WE WANT WE WANTTTTTTT" but no record company is going to go to the expense of producing an orchestral soundtrack that only a few thousand people are going to buy.
Of course if someone can come up with more accurate figures, please do.

I want the score dammit!
Man, every Tom Dick and Harry has a CD nowdays, they can't release a CD to one of the biggest blockbusters of the year! That is slack!

That's a bit skewed considering it's a Top Selling of All Time chart. While it won't beat out a Beatles or Michael Jackson CD, I do expect that a film score for a movie as popular as this will beat out a lot of what's out there. Besides the production costs shouldn't be that high. They still churned out soundtracks for movies like Fantastic Four.
I do remember seeing sales charts on entertainment weekly and the LA Times (for past releases by an artist coming out with a new CD). Generally, they range from 10000 and up. And I've remembered seeing scores like SW and LOTF cracking the list put out by EW. I don't know if they put those archives up online but if one digs through a few issues, they might find something.

If this is true, then I'm going to have to terrorize Sony Godzilla-style until it comes out. The scene and music where the Autobots arrived made the TF fangirl in me wake up.

So? It was awful. It was so bland and generic.
The only reason this sucks is because I'm still waiting to hear the orchestral version of the old-school theme song.
