the douche bag in ebert tv disses transformers movie
just watched the episode airing tonight, i can't believe the guest critic gave a thumbs down to transformers whereas roeper gave it a thumbs up. the fruity guy claimed it was long, boring, loud, and stupid. he also dislikes director bay uses african americans as stereotypes, that they're always got chase or pursuited by cops, blah, blah. however the fruit gave hairstray and harry potter a huge thumbs up. this guy must be very sentimental, because the movies he enjoys the most are girly stuff. anyway he ain't right by giving transformers a thumbs down!!!!!!!!

Who cares what he says? If you like it, that's all that matters. It's not like his input is stopping the masses from seeing it anyway.

Sounds like the guy was just giving his opinion on things, which was what he was there for.
If you don't agree with him fine, no point getting upset about it though, unless it really harmed your enjoyment of the movie in which case i'd seek counseling.

I seen the episode tonight as well, and I can see the guy who pwn'd Transformers made some valid points about the movie, however, I agree with Roeper that he put too much emphasis on it's short-comings and didn't sit back and enjoy the film.
Besides, he's just a guest critic. I won't die if it doesn't happen, but I would love to see "Two Thumbs Up" on the DVD if Ebert gives it a good review (which he writes and later posts).

in fact ebert did gave it a thumbs up, 4 stars i believe. he wrote the review on his chicago times column, it's also one of his first movies that he wrote about the review under his way of recovering. i guess he's still too ill to make an appearance on tonight's episode. i wish he'll be back soon on tv with his sidekick roeper.

screw the critics!!! how does bay stereo type african americans? so in bad boys 2 in the opening scene with the kkk is stereo typing? ive remember in the island where the 2 characters fell and then there was a african american construction worker that said to the them "woah jesus must love you" then when he saw scarlet "i know jesus loves you" then theres one in The Rock where one african american is a driver for the trolly and when it gets smashed he says "save yourselfs!!!" then i forget what he says at the end though. then in armageddon there is a african american taxi driver that sees the comets hitting and says "OH WE AT WAR!!! SADDAM INSANE IS BOMBINH US!!!" i found that pretty funny. and theres plenty of more scenes in other bay movies. go and see for yourselves.

The Internet has given everybody in America a voice. For some reason, everybody decides to use that voice to bitch about movies.

No one's made this point in any of their posts yet. (Well, not fleshed out and to the point.)
Ebert & Roeper (two of the most influential critical minds) actually gave the movie two thumbs up. Did anyone actually believe we'd see this day? I'm floored, and oh so happy.
"Two Thumbs Up"- Ebert & Roeper At The Movies
Wowza.
Ebert gave it 3.5 out of 4 stars btw.

I just watched it earlier tonight and the guest critic was right on the mark (I was cheering him on thru my TV set)...I was kinda surprised Roeper gave it Thumbs Up as he tends to be critical of movies with plots such as TF, but if you listened carfully he said he threw his critics hat ouuta the window when he saw it...Which means he lowered his standards or expectations because he veiws TF as a silly toy movie and since it was confirmed with the way Bay made this film, you can see why he gave it thumbs up...His mindset going into the film was one of expecting mindless action with no source material to consider...He got just that..

I have to agree with him, yes, it packs a punch, but it left a bad after taste. Night I saw it, best thing ever, let it sit, dispised it and started canceling laybuys of movie toys while buying more G1 and saving for the next series, which this time, looks f***ing excellent and am already getting shelving for the new classics. I was all for the movie, including designs, seeing it and letting it sit, made me have the same opinion as this fellow. I can watch the "Toy Commercial" from 86 once a week, and I was born in 88, with G2/Beast Wars being my intro to TF.Altertron wrote:just watched the episode airing tonight, i can't believe the guest critic gave a thumbs down to transformers whereas roeper gave it a thumbs up. the fruity guy claimed it was long, boring, loud, and stupid. he also dislikes director bay uses african americans as stereotypes, that they're always got chase or pursuited by cops, blah, blah. however the fruit gave hairstray and harry potter a huge thumbs up. this guy must be very sentimental, because the movies he enjoys the most are girly stuff. anyway he ain't right by giving transformers a thumbs down!!!!!!!!

Welcome to "Earth", youngling.
We have many different people of many different cultures and many a varying viewpoint.
Some of us like to laugh 800 times at the same jokes we've seen before, while others of us take joy in seeing something well thought out and mindful not to tread too far in what is considered "the old".

The trick with critics... find someone whose opinion is close to your own, and listen to them. If you have a "film as art" guy who says any film without subtitles is trash, you pretty much know what their opinion of a movie like this will be going in.

The "fruity guy" comment was not necessary.
That can come across as homophobic and comments like that are a no no.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Yeah, eh? Free speech is such a stupid rule. If it wasn't for free speech, you wouldn't even be allowed to say that free speech is a stupid rule.

Knowing that I wouldn't be awake to see it, I set a program for it. I just finished watching it, and while I can agree with some of the points the guest reviewer brings up, I also think he misses the point by a wide margin. "Transformers" isn't the sort of movie you go into and expect to see anything even remotely resembling an Academy Award/Oscar worthy film. It's a popcorn flick pure and simple, and you have two choices when watching it: turn your brain off and just enjoy it for what it is (as Roeper himself said) or nitpick the hell out of it and make it out to be something it isn't.
Besides, any film that can make over three million dollars in two weeks can't be all that bad, can it?

It doesn't matter if it was his opinion or not, it's the fact that he doesnt understand why robots would speak english. I mean is he that dense?
Asking why prime speaks like a philosopher? Another dense critic. Perhaps this was a critic review of the Transformers universe, not just the movie.
None the less, his criticism doesn't really do much for anyone, as my hundreds of dollars i've spent on this crap packs more of a punch.

Forgive me but everywhere I go on the internet to talk about my disapointment with this movie people continually give this exact same argument and to be honest it's kinda frustrating...When a TF fan (or even random critic)say they want some good story or some decent logic in this film, WE ARE NOT SAYING IT NEEDS TO BE SOME OSCAR WORTHY PLOT...I do not understand for the life of me how people jump to Oscar-worthy plot outta someone asking for the plot to simply MAKE SENSE... Like the reviewer said the movie just didn't MAKE SENSE in alot of areas concearning the plot..I turned my brain-off and still caught endless plotholes...You don't have to be a fan of anything Transformers to see the gaping plot-holes or just plain non-sensical aspects in this movie...Roeper as said, CHOSE to not be a critic when he watched it because he has no respect for TF's beyond that of being a silly toy movie...He really had no comeback arguments because he doesn't even veiw TF as worthy of having any seriousness involved...

In Reality, Transformers got TWO THUMBS UP. Here is Why. The show is really Ebert and Roeper. But, Ebert has been ill and isn't on the show for now. Still, he does continue to give movie reviews for the newspaper he works for. I forget which. Ebert gave it a good review in his article. Roeper gave it a thumb up as well....So the two people that matter, as far at THAT show is concerned, gave it thumbs up. Forget that guest critic.
