Yikes, he's looking...not very good. He looks so barren and plain, and he's 99% backpack. Plus it looks like the chest cockpit is fake.

Not sure what people would want with an cartoon version of this character...
There shouldn't be any extra... Anything-- molding, texture, random paint apps, etc. It's going to look plain.
99% backpack?? That's some fuzzy math. What does that even mean? 99%????
I'll say I wish it didn't hang down so far, but even from a profile view it's not bad at all.
As far as the cockpit, that's a really well-done render, but it's still a render... Making a surface look transparent isn't super easy, so it's not going to look real.
I'm hoping it's highly saturated with yellow-orange color, so loosely semi-transparent.
Overall, imo that's on point to where I see this being a pretty incredible figure.
This could be up there with MP-13 for me.

Re: Masterpiece v3 Starscream Coming?!
Looks good to me. The fan renderings really made it come alive.
It appears that the stabilizers are folded on the back of his wings and that's how Takara managed to achieve the clean look of the legs. (Kind of like how MP-44 Prime stores the sides of the cab in his legs -- but in reverse.)
And I don't know, there's a chance that the canopy might be "real."

I meant it's very difficult to make it look like real plastic; whether painted or especially colored transparent plastic, when it's a 2D CG render.
I don't know if it'll be able to open, but yeah, the real figure will have a real looking canopy.

There shouldn't be any extra... Anything-- molding, texture, random paint apps, etc. It's going to look plain.Yeah, and it looks terrible. Personally I preferred it when they took some liberties with the character models to make the figures actually interesting to look at (see MP-10).99% backpack?? That's some fuzzy math. What does that even mean? 99%????
Obviously hyperbole but it is excessive.I'll say I wish it didn't hang down so far, but even from a profile view it's not bad at all.
It really is. It's far too big, and probably means he has no torso articulation. As far as the cockpit, that's a really well-done render, but it's still a render... Making a surface look transparent isn't super easy, so it's not going to look real.

No, as in the cockpit on the chest is quite obviously not the actual cockpit of the jet- it's a "fake part".Overall, imo that's on point to where I see this being a pretty incredible figure.
This could be up there with MP-13 for me.
I mean you do you. Personally, I'm of the opinion that they should have just cribbed the basic transformation scheme of the MakeToys MP-alike Seeker, given it did NO fake parts, was extremely articulated, looked cartoon accurate without being dull and wasn't wearing a massive backpack.

I meant using the same piece in both robot and alt mode.

Sure. And uh, yeah, you can do you.
I get this is an opinion, but in the grand scheme, that's really not that much on his back...
Whereas it's very clear you have bias based on at least one other figure, I'm looking at this for what it is on its own. If there's no waist articulation, yeah that sucks for being a MP figure.
But the overall appearance, especially from the front, is pretty dang good.
So I'm not sure if you want more molded details, or exaggerated proportions, or what.
I'm also looking at it from a standpoint of what Hastak's goal is with this line.
Not quite sure why it's such a bother if the cockpit/canopy is not the actual jet cockpit/canopy for the alt mode.
I'd be willing to bet if it was, the proportions of the robot would be off. And considering the look they're going for, as long as there aren't two separate visible pieces that are the "same thing", who cares? Unless you're into TF more for the engineering aspects.
Seems to be one of those things where I get, it's a large ticket toy, so you'd of course expect a lot.
But between a solid alt mode, a solid robot mode, a solid transformation, and a specific aesthetic, something has to give...
So when I consider all of these things and see a figure like this new Starscream,
based on appearance, I don't really understand what more people want.

I'm thinking there's going to be a lot of tiny pannels folding in and out to cover things up. I really hope this is a MP that I can have fun with.

Better than I was expecting, and the ab crunch is nice. I'm still not sure it's better than the MT offering though.

New Grey Prototype Images of Masterpiece Starscream Version 2.0
- Motto: "My past no longer binds my future..."
- Weapon: Battle Blades
Greetings Seibertronians! From the intrepid sleuthing of fellow Seibertron user, Cyberpath, we've learned that the Facebook account, Bots and Bits has posted up images purporting to show grey prototype images of Masterpiece Starscream Version 2.0! According to the Facebook post, these images were found on Baidu.

As you can see from these images, there isn't much detail on the pieces being only a prototype, poor old screamer doesn't even have a face yet!
Again, it must be pointed out that while this is the third Starscream Masterpiece toy, Takara Tomy are treating it as Version 2.0, owning to the fact that MP 03 and MP 11 both come from the same source figure.
What do you think of this prototype? Are you itching to see the finished product or just dreading the price? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

Extra wings on the back look like possible tetra jet mode? The back of the wings has a second smaller set of wings on a hinge that is out of place.

the shapes on these parts line up with the hinges on the folded wing flaps. more then likely these are part of the wings that pull out and are used to cover/hide/hold other back kibble in place.

I for one am super stoked about this. I’ve been ready for a new MP Starscream ever since I got MP-11.
Yeah that’s right, I never really even liked either of the first MP Screamers.

Well there goes like $300+ x 3 or however many times they want to release this mold in different colors.

I think those might be the tail fins from Jet mode.
Looks like 2.0 is going more for the animated look this time around.

Re: Masterpiece v3 Starscream Coming?!
thing to keep in mind on this one is that this is very early prototype to show how things should roughly work. so proportions are off, parts and details are missing. (not that there will be much more in the way of detail since this is going for a toon look) so this proto isn't a good indication of the final product, more of an indication of where joints should be, and how it should articulate/transform. Kind of like the old G1 prototypes are were made of wooden blocks pegged together.

His null Ray's aren't screen accurate. C'mon, takara, this isn't earthrise, either all of it is animation accurate as possible or none of it is.

Apparently, the underside of the jet wings opens up to allow the back ends of the jet to fold up into them in robot mode, meaning those smaller wings on the back of the main wings in robot mode are the jet's rear stabilizers.
