Even though it was never used for any practical purpose in the cartoon (and had the magical property of appearing and disappearing at will), I felt it gave our hero the extra bulk needed to mark him as the king of the road. Seeing Prime without his trailer feels like Megatron without his cannon or Jetfire without his fast pack. There's just something missing about the character, and yet it seems Hasbro tends to ignore Prime's trailer. Even the MP-04 version was released after the non-trailer Masterpiece.
I was very disappointed that a trailer was never released with Prime's Classics update. The movie and Titanium line have also been sadly trailer-less (despite the fact that Prime did have a trailer in The War Within). And now with Animated just around the corner, it seems the designers once again couldn't be arsed with giving Prime one of his signatory features. All the more amazing that they retained his lesser known accesory, the Energon axe.
PLEASE, Hasbro! Give Prime back his trailer and let it be known that it's a key part of his vehicle's image. Without it, he just seems like half a leader heading the convoy of Autobots into battle.
