Despotron looks amazing and if I ever feel the need for an MP Megatron, he will be it. Either that or the Spark Toys Dreamwave Megatron, because that looks awesome and is a tank.
Anyway, I got Giant recently. No pics because I can't be bothered, but here's a review of him...
Build quality: Second to none. Joints are perfect and the actual plastic is incredible.
Scrapper: Vehicle mode is pretty neat. A shame the scoop only has one joint but it's a nice, vroomable little digger. Transformation is a bit scary, and robot mode LOOKS cool, but the arm articulation is...questionable. All the joints are there so it's not on the level of CW Scrapper and his lack of elbows, but the movement isn't great at all. That said, he definitely looks the part.
Mixmaster: Static drum aside I adore his vehicle mode. It's a perfect little cement mixer and I love it to bits. Transformation is pretty fun. Robot mode is kinda lanky but poses well and looks pretty great on the whole. I love the overhead missiles.
Long Haul: Probably my favourite of the set. Vehicle mode is the cutest dump truck ever with working steering, transformation is pretty clever and the robot mode is awesome. Reminds me of a G1ized ROTF Long Haul.
Hook: Vehicle mode is great, no complaints there. Transformation has a few scary moments but is quite clever. Robot mode...hmm. No bicep swivels, which kinda sucks, and no distinct feet either. He looks cool though, and the combiner head isn't as obtrusive as I thought it might be.
Bonecrusher: Vehicle mode is a well done bulldozer so I instantly love it. Transformation is clever but the bulldozer blade is terrifying to transform. Robot mode is gorgeous. Like, legit amazing. He has a 90 degree ab crunch for crying out loud. Oh, and he has a pair of hilts that will accept any 3mm peg, so if you have, say, sufficiently sized Gundam Beam Sabre blades you can give him lightsabres. The back kibble is a shame but I can deal with it.
Scavenger: Much the same as Bonecrusher due to very similar engineering. Nice excavator mode, cool transformation (without the scary bits of Bonecrusher's) and a superb robot mode.
The forearms: Worth a mention because of how clever they are. By default they're little generators that can be pulled by Scrapper and Mixmaster, but they can also combine with the chromed "screwdrivers" that come with Long Haul to form jackhammers for the Constructicons to use, and Scavenger can use them as power fists. Definitely the best use of the forearm kibble ever.
Devastator: This is where the set shines. All the gripes with the individuals can be set aside here because dear god he is perfect. Looks awesome, with a really nice coherent look that makes him look less like 6 dudes combined and more like one big robot, really solid connections, and crazy articulation. His legs are cool enough, especially for a Devastator, but his arms are insane. Because of the way he transforms, the actual vehicles on the shoulders can get out of the way completely, and this allows for ridiculous range of poseability. His gun pegs in super solidly, he can use the screwdrivers in this mode (a bit like G1 Dev's drills) and as a really nice unintentional feature he can hold CW Shockwave perfectly.
Conclusion: He's awesome. Sure the individuals are a bit dated, but the combined mode holds up absolutely perfectly, and he probably scales better with CW figures than the actual CW Devastator. Plus, with him going for decent prices on the aftermarket, he's probably better bang for buck than UW Devs (at least here in the UK where UW Devs is super expensive). Bottom line, if you want a CHUG Devastator and have a little bit of money to burn, get him.

I think Despotron looks amazing -- problem for me is, the fact that MP Megz 2.0 exists.... but I am also eager to see WeiJiang's final version of their OS MPP, to go against my MPP-10.
DX9 Tyrant is a bit short.

I like the headsculpt but I'm quite poor and I like Generations Arcee plenty so went halfway and got the upscaled WeiJang KO version which is very nice and the portions of the backpack are removable and it was only £16.99 with free delivery. The arms could use a lil repainting (which I'm fine with and will get to that eventually) to have the pale light pink upper arms and such but yeah overall I'm reeeally happy with it. (and yes the MP Hot Rod is a cheap KO too (£18.99 with free delivery).

Fantoys version looks pretty decent and maybe more your thing since you seem like someone who can afford the fancier figures.

Just realised I posted them on the page or two before this one.

Oh Carnivius, if I were single and had no kids, I would be all about Masterpieces (or 3rd party equivalent)!
But as it is, when I do splurge on a spendy piece, it's basically an Xmas/birthday present to myself.
Dat FansToys Arcee would have to be a must-have for me to get yet another incarnation of her....but she's looking very promising!

Heh, I buy toys cos I am single, have no kids and am very lonely and need something to feel the void (have barely even a proper relatioship and closest thing to that was about 8 years ago now).

I have plastic-crack addiction too, brother.
It's never easy to truly, deeply connect (even with the ones you may love the most) -- but you gotta keep trying. And find a good, uplifting soundtrack to select a kick-ass personal anthem!

Re: Unofficial Transformers 3rd Party & KO toy haul thread
NOTE: I am new-ish to the boards here, so I am reposting stuff from a thread erroneously posted at previously (and also stuff I originally posted at another Tf website). I have consolidated my posts together into this one and might, if it becomes popular enough, branch out into a thread of its own, as I LOVE these figures and plan to do some custom paints etc on them. If these posts are in the wrong place, please let me know!
Original post/s:
- I Just got my dark dinobots yesterday. They are lovely. Grimlock's "spear" is glued into the "mace" part of the weapon (the original version is removable), so I'll have to pry it out (even though the mace is already coming apart), Slag's tail came off (needs re-glueing in two parts at the end) and Grimlock's hips are too loose (commented upon in video reviews of this KO, in all of its repaints).
I also need to repaint the colour details on Slag, Grimlock and Scorn, to reduce the gold and/or remove colours that were in the original figure (such as the odd, neon orange in Scorn's case). Then, a few Decepticon logos and we are there!
Here's a rough comparison shot with the original, Hasbro Dinobots:
-
Here they, protecting their "master"...
Ben has unboxed the black Dinobots in this video. Hopefully a review will be out soon.
Here are some reviews for the original first two/three black dinobots (they were mainly painted in black and gold, and seem slightly different from the latest versions (Strafe and Snarl) :
- Black OSKO Scorn ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t1bUesrdKNI )
- Black OSKO Grimlock ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HZVn6Yn700A )
- Black OSKO Slag/Slug ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lmIsZQB7Gpw )
As I am planning to repaint some of the details on these (and add Reprolabels decepticon symbols), I made custom, WIP bios for these figures. Any constructive criticism is welcome! I have put them behind a quote to reduce page length, and I think I made more edits in the ones previously posted at another site, but enjoy!
Nemesis Dinobots.
Created from local saurians on a long-dead planet, the Nemesis Dinobots are here! Fueled by dark energon, these simple-minded creatures will protect their dark masters without a word! Autobots and Dinobots had better watch out against these dark-energon blade-weilding monstocities!
Nemesis Grimlock
Nemesis Grimlock (ネメシスグリムロック Nemeshisu Gurimurokku) is a hugely powerful Transformer, and it exerts that power in the service of just one 'bot: Nemesis Prime, the berserker clone of Optimus Prime. Nemesis Grimlock exists only to serve and protect his master, and can use his newly aquired Zhuchengtyrannus magnus mode to blast its foes with pressurized carbon dioxide!
Nemesis Slug
Nemesis Slug (ネメシススラッグ Nemeshisu Suraggu) is a reformatted, unstoppable engine of destruction. If his masters want something cleared away, Nemesis Slug is all they need. It's Sinoceratops mode can also fire corrosive pellets from its mouth.
Nemesis Snarl
Nemesis Snarl's (ネメシス・スナル Nemeshisu Sunaru) fear and loathing for all life has resulted in it permanenty adopting a defensive position in Huayangosaurus mode. Its large armour plating can withstand most artillery, making it a living shield for the other Nemesis Dinobots to hide behind before charging the enemy. In bot mode, it weilds a dark energon Thagomizer Blade (that's if it can be coaxed into transforming).
Nemesis Strafe
Nemesis Strafe (ネメシス・ストラフ Nemeshisu Sutorafu) is a deadly, hidden aerial assasin. In Nemicolopterus crypticus mode, it can fly silently, undetected by most of its prey. Specialised claws allow it to cling and move suprisingly well amongst trees and other objects. Its dual beast-mode beaks can cut through most known metals.
Nemesis Scorn
Nemesis Scorn (ネメシス・スコーン Nemeshisu Sukōn) is an aquatic expert, favouring wet environments where it's huge Spinosaurus mode is not a hinderance. Dark Energon "sails" can be generated between it's dorsal spines in beast mode, which can be used for either greater manouverbility beneath the waters, or to absorb and deflect energy blasts from enemies.
Notes:
The new dinosaur names are taken from ones found in, or connected to China, to homage the "Age of Extinction" films (set in China) and in reference to the fact that they are Wei Jiang copies, which come from China. As "knockoffs are evil" and from China, this was my little homage to that (no offense meant!). My intent was for these figures to be twisted, evil G1 characters (with the tilm aesthetic fitting this perfectly) that could be the adversaries to the actual G1 Dinobots. Instead of being evil clones of the actual G1 characters, I referenced an episode of "Centurions", where the evil cyborg Dr Whatshisname "assimilates" dinosaurs into cyborg beasts! Basically, these Dinobots were made from living and/or long dead remains (a-la Beast Wars) and converted into what we can see today.

I popped them in the correct thread, I think. However, that particular thread isn't that popular anymore, maybe, so it's a bit of promotion for that thread. I don't want to make a whole new thread just for those, as there are already three "main" KO threads at the boards, I think!
Hope the links were useful for you!

Part of my modest B-Day haul, I have MW-05 Cogz.

Fun guy but articulation is limited due to all the kibble. Love the optional G1 toy face.

He complete this display nicely.

Whilst visiting Northampton town for a browse, I found this fella staring at me from the shelf of Pound Stretcher only £4.99!
Telitoy Super Robot Squad Space Overlord!![]()
I instantly thought 'oversized classics deluxe'.
This super robot comes in a generic package, same boxart but different figure in each one.
There are three to choose from, this onne being the silver sports car, which reminds me perhaps of 'Streak?
Theres also a yellow topless sports car, very Bumblebee, too much of an easy tag!
Taking prime position in the middle of these two is a very interesting attempt at a possible Optimus Prime.
I can't see any of your pics. A few other posts by other people are the save for me, too. I just saw empty boxes where the pics should be.

I GOT SOMETHING! So let's put some life in this thread shall we?
So here's Fanproject Function-XV MADLAW!

First impressions are good. Tight all over, great details, great paint, and it feel SOLID in hand. This thing is quality stuff. But how it hold up to the G1 Original? Let's find out.

No contest for the robot mode. As much that I love my vintage bots, G1 Quickswitch look like an aborted foetus wearing a used diaper. MADLAW have a magnificent robot mode with incredible sculpted details all over. Plus his eyes are PAINTED! Add an unnecessary but oh so awesome optional visor and it make this bot pretty ultimate. Unfortunate that we can't be "immature" with MADLAW by taking out an... extra limb... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Winner: MADLAW

MADLAW's wolf have gaps all over, can't have a tail, and just look weird. Quickswitch on the other hand look great with a bit of fan-transformation. Like a nice Long hair Rastreador Brasileiro
Winner: Quickswitch

The spaceship mode is okay for MADLAW. A bit chubby, not unlike G1 Quickswitch. However, what kill this mode is the fact that there is no way to use the "gunwings". THOSE ARE WINGS! USE THEM! Those are essential for Quickswitch spaceship mode but the gunwings complete his look beautifully. Instead of those thin wings that fold down for the spaceship mode, MADLAW should have used his gunwings. And that's unforgivable.
Winner: Quickswitch

For the gun mode, G1 Quickswitch fail miserably. It's just the boat 2.0. MADLAW transform completely and get a unique shape. the integration of the tiny guns is also brilliant.
Winner: MADLAW

For the drill tank mode, MADLAW do a splendid job. He look like a burger of death! It's compact and brutal looking. Plus the fact that I can integrate the gunwings in this mode make it absolutely perfect. G1 Quickswitch have a solid tank mode but the complete lack of paint on the tank threads break what could have been a tie.
Winner: MADLAW

And finally, the boat mode. Quickswitch is weird. He's square and on "skis". Still, if does look like a boat and the skis can be tucked away if we don't like that look. As for MADLAW, what a mess. It look more like a wreck than a boat. Final nail in that coffin is the complete incompatibility with the gunwings.
Winner: Quickswitch

Final verdict: DRAW!
For real. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Both were expensive asfak but well worth the price paid. Both are weird and quirky in their own ways. I'm very glad with my purchase. Recommended.

Re: Unofficial Transformers 3rd Party & KO toy haul thread
Please could you edit the reference to "aborted foetus" please? I found it offensive and I'm sure others might too (some sites even forbid the topic, due to flame wars, etc).
Back on topic; if you look around, you can find some good fan transformations of Madlaw, which incorporates his guns in all modes, including his spaceship mode. His wolf mode can also look good, too. I also completely disagree with your opinion about the boat mode. It's Madlaw's most cohesive mode, with clips and pegs for most of the bits, making it really stable. It also looks like an actual (police patrol) boat, unlike the G1 version.
