After those 2 attempted Kamen Rider adaptations, I don't think anyone else would be willing to try it, much as I'd enjoy it if they did.Wigglez wrote:Am I the only one who thinks that they should've kept bringing more than Super Sentai to the U.S.? Agreed, besides, they actually kind of have an opening for it with a fairly "normal" plot with Drive. Lone superhero against an army of machine monsters that want to take over the world? Wouldn't have to do much to change the plot. Same goes for a series like OOO.

Y'know, I actually really enjoy when a dark/evil version of the main Rider shows up. Also, I kinda dig the mass-production police use pseudo-Mach.

Mystic Knights of Tir na Nog was pretty decent for a US-made tokusatsu. Tattooed Teenage Alien Fight from Beverly Hills? Ehhh... not so much, and that's putting it mildly. Avoid!

I can't watch Kamen Rider Ryuki because well... it was pulled from the site I was watching it from. And I wasn't that far into it (short from the debut of Zolda)!

Though, I recall getting some enjoyment out of Galidor, Aaron Stone, Ace Lightning (technically a Canadian/British-produced series), Van Pires (I was VERY young at the time) and such.
Back when I watched it, it was on Veoh (anyone remember that site?). It might still be on there if you'd wanna try watching it again (it was TV-Nihon's fansubbed version).JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:I can't watch Kamen Rider Ryuki because well... it was pulled from the site I was watching it from. I may have to try that. And no, I haven't seen Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, nor do I plan to in the near future. From what I've seen tho, it's closer adaptation than Saban's Masked Rider will ever be.

I enjoyed it for what it was, and actually kinda prefer it over Ryuki for the simple fact that it, unlike Ryuki, was not a total depression fest.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:And no, I haven't seen Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, nor do I plan to in the near future. And though it certainly might have been closer to Ryuki than Masked Rider ever was to Black RX, it wasn't trying to be, as it was trying to be its own thing.
And it gave us one of the most entertaining American-made Toku villains since Lord Zedd. William O'Leary (better known as Tim Taylor's brother Marty from Home Improvement) was so much fun to watch as General Xaviax, being so smug and despicable, he was a delight.

I watched a little of Dragon Knight, it's what got me watching Ryuki, and Rider shows in general, but I never got very far... What was really disorienting was watching Dragon Knight dubbed in Japanese, though.
(For those that don't know, sometimes the American adapted Toku shows will get localized and broadcast in Japan, despite already being an adaptation of a Japanese series.)
It was really interesting who they got for some of the voice cast in the Japanese Dragon Knight dub. Xaviax, for instance, was voiced by Hochu Otsuka, who played Deneb in Den-O, and narrated Gaim, and Len/Wing Knight was voiced by Satoshi Matsuda, who played Wing Knight's Japanese counterpart, Knight in Ryuki.
I should go back and watch all of Dragon Knight some day, since it was technically what got me interested in the first place. (I was first introduced to Riders when I, as a young internet user, discovered where Saban's Masked Rider came from, since I loved the costumes and stuff from that show, but I never bothered to watch any until Dragon Knight toys showed up at a local store, and I wanted to learn more)

Good grief, everybody else in this thread is a bunch of freaking casuals who need to get on my level and watch more toku. I believe the Henshin Fever page on facebook has streams if that's your preference, but the best way to get anything is torrents (go to nyaa.se) and direct downloads (go to krdl.info). Everybody's homework is to start one or two new shows before Ghost starts. Got it?

Hey, I'm watch Drive as it comes out and am planning on trying to watch the rest of them on Animebaka.
Also, a new villain for the Gaim Gaiden II has been revealed, Kamen Rider Savior!

OK. So. Another repaint of the Golden arms, this is what, number five now? I know these Gaim Gaidens are on a limited budget, but with the exception of the Lemon arms, there is really nothing new or interesting looking here. Also find it odd that the Zakuro lockseed is a repaint of the Suika lockseed, especially since the actual arms are a repaint of the Golden arms.
Interesting that Savior is using Bujin Gaim's Blood Orange lockseed as well, although since he's using the genesis core system without an energy lockseed, I suppose that renders the jinba arms ineffective? But given that he's sporting the daidaimaru (Blood Orange ver.) I guess it allows him access to Bujin Gaim's weapon and powers?
I'm reading too much into this, more than likely, but considering the name, the Blood Orange lockseed and the genesis core, I'm wondering if this character starts out as a good guy. I mean, people know about the rider's in this universe, so why wouldn't somebody, maybe a new rider, leap at the chance to wield the orange lockseed after all that Kouta has done.

I dunno about casual... I just watch what interests me. So far that's only resulted in about 6 Sentai shows, and every Rider series from Black onward (Which is... what, 18 shows?)

Funny story: the TV-N Agito subs are stolen from the existing, completed subs, themselves a reworking of the old pay-to-own Cruel Angel VHS translations. You're better off just watching the Midnight Crew Kuuga subs and GomenRider Agito, TVN has about 30 shows on backburner and it's going to take them years to get through it.

GomenRider himself compared the scripts and noted one particular mistake that he had made in his versions showed back up in the TVN versions.
EDIT: Wait, I remembered it wrong.
What happened was that TVN used the Cruel Angel VHS scripts, as did GomenRider, but they neglected to correct an error that GomenRider DID fix. False alarm. Either way though, just get GomenRider. TVN isn't worth waiting on.

If that's the real price, it's going to drop so fast, because I am not paying $200 for it. I only paid $100 for Legacy Titanus.

Some more ghostly news...
It's confirmed that the final episode of Drive, episode 48, will feature a crossover event with Drive stumbling upon the Newton Eyecon, resulting in the Ganma (the new villains) and the last of the Roimudes to fight over it, while Ghost enters the fray.
Also meet the actor portraying Ghost/Takeru Tenkuji, Shun Nishime:

At a mere 17, he's one of the youngest actors to portray a Rider. Honestly, I'm curious to see this, mainly because I'm going to be the same age in only two months.
Want to hear Ghost's henshin sequence? Here ya' go!

The dual sound pun is "Pacchiriminaa"
-minaa is an imperative command, like KyoryuRed's "Tometemina!" Literally "Stop me!", taken as "Try to stop me!"
Bacchiri means "perfectly" or "properly"
Pacchiri means "eyes that are open wide"

If that's the real price, it's going to drop so fast, because I am not paying $200 for it. I only paid $100 for Legacy Titanus.
I hope it doesn't cost that much. Finally, my white Tigerzord will have the shoulder pieces meant for it
