So is HD DVD almost dead?

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

Kind of seems like you should to me, however, I'm waiting longer to see what happens in the next few months but yeah it certainly looks like Blu ray has the axe ready to swing over the head of HD.

At this point I think paramount should know when to walk away from HD and if they have a clause in their contract that will let them out then they should do it.

About half of the Blue Rays I own don't even look better than their DVD cousins. I have a 40 inch 1080p HDTV, so that is not an issue. If it is a movie I really want comes out, I'll go with the Blue Ray version. Out of about 10 movies I buy, maybe 1 or 2 will be Blue Ray.

I hope HD DVDs will go the way of the dinosaurs, I really don't want to buy another player. Each new exclusive deal that pops up just adds a few more nails into the HD DVD coffin.

Are you using an HDMI cable? I made the mistake of not getting one and the movies looked the same. Then I got the cable and it was WOW

I remember the days when video games were played in arcades and on Atari 800 computers. *sigh*

Well...as a format for watching movies...I doubt you'd use a movie for network gaming.

As a format for playing games on, it's just as capable as any other format out there. Every PS3 game is printed on a Blu-ray disc.

Yes...and it's a free service at that.

The only time you'll ever pay for anything on the PlayStation Network, is if you purchace a game, movie, or game add-on at the Playstation store.

Any game that has Online Multiplayer, (like The Orange Box, Call of Duty, Eye of Judgment, just to name a few) it's free to play online, provided you've got a high-speed internet connection (ie anything but dial up).

That's cool. Sounds like it's even better than PC. I guess the games costs a limb or two?

Games are priced generally the same as any X-Box game. Expect to pay $60 for a new release, possibly as low as $50 for an older game.

Prices for downloadable content/games vary depending on what you're getting.
