Resemble? He's a clone! But that's ok, I like the homage.

Blue torso with red waist, a sort of "Collar" (Strike's is gray, Gundam's is yellow)) Red shield with yellow details. Yellow eyes an a red "Goatee."
And weapons: A large gun (Strike's Agni, and Gundam's rocket launcher) a melee weapon (Strike's anti-ship sword, and Gundam's Hyper hammer) a beam rifle, and twin beam sabers.
They even serve as the first main Gundam for the universe. Strike is even brought down by the CE version of the Zeong, Prividence. (When Mu La Flaga is piloting it at the end)
And I didn't compare the character to anyone outside Gundam because it didn't seem right. Besides, Mu La Flaga also looks like Sleggar Law.

I can't see the Providence/Zeong comparison. The Zeong was suppposed to be MASSIVE, and the Providence is not. As for Athrun as Char, I'm not seeing it. Char's mobile suits were Red, Athrun's are more pinkish. Rau as Char, I see it. I see Kira and Athrun both as Amuro, just split up and put on opposite sides. Here's the obvious UC references, but the beauty of it is what you may think is a good comparison I may not, as the series was done in a more subtle comparison.I mean yeah, Forbidden Gundam is in a Titans color scheme, some things we have to agree on, but character comparisons I think are left to the viewer. The only reason I brought up the Roy Focker thing is because I remember reading about how the team that made the series were huge Macross fans in addition to being Gundam fans, and wanted to pay homage to one of the most famous Anime characters of all time.

Almost every main Gundam (the one used by the main character and gets the most screen time) of a series is red, blue, and white.
Can't think of one that didn't have those colors.

It's ok I realize I made a mistake myself, I can think of at least one main Gundam that doesn't have the typical red, blue, and white.

The Nu Gundam and of course the upgrade to Hi-Nu Gundam

The Nu Gundam was Amuro's Gundam in Char's Counterattack and by far one of the strongest UC Gundams ever made. Though as far as the Hi-Nu goes, I believe it was only in a novel.

I'm addicted. That's nothing compared to the 220 for the PG Gp01...

Don't forget the Gundam Mk.II, which was black, white and yellow. Also, Freedom Gundam, which was blue, black and white, with red details.

The only difference is more detail on Strike, and also less yellow.
By the way "A Strike?" There was one. There was Strike Rouge, though, but that wasn't quite the same. See, things like that make me think you haven't actually watched SEED.

I'm not one for quoting pictures, but let's look at it this way. The headsculpt (save for the faceplate which is identical in almost all gundams) is entirely different. The crest is nowhere near the same and the helmet is ENTIRELY different. Furthermore, look at the shoulder design. There is NO similarity there at all. After that, lets examine the waist, but we don't need to examine it because anyone can see it's entirely different. Last I'll mention the the redesigned legs. I mean really, all gundams look very similar, but these two are not all that alike. There are Gundams that the RX-78 resembles a lot more than the Strike.
On another note, I have watched Seed, I own it. I say a strike because there are multiple versions. You should do your homework before correcting someone. There's:
Strike
Strike Rouge
Strike Noir
Akatsuki
That's 4 versions of the Strike right there.

1. Akatsuki wasn't based on Strike. It's more like the Atrays ORB tends to use.
2. Rouge and Noir are different versions, yes, but they are not THE Strike.
3. You can't deny that the RX-78 and Strike are very similar. Given that they ARE supposed to fill the same role.
(Extremely powerful Mobile Suit used by a whiney emo character. Okay, that's an unfair example.)

as U said, all Gundams are similar, but these two aren't all that alike. And as for the Strikes, they're all Strikes. Otherwise they wouldn't be "Strike" Rouge and "Strike" Noir. as for the Akatsuki, they flat out say in the manga it's an advanced version of the Strike. Anyhow, Here's what the RX-78-2 closely resembles:
RX-78-3
RX-78-4
RX-78-5
Mk.II
RX-79G
NT-1
And also, how is Strike supposed to fill the same role as the 78? Because it's a main mecha and gets destroyed? The 78 got destroyed at the end of MS, the Strike got destroyed have way through Seed. Furthermore, if we look at the "injuries" sustained by the 78(headless and armless) the Freedom actually suffered those same injuries, not the Strike.

Actually, Strike was rebuilt for Mu La Flaga, and he was killed when it was blown up a second time at the end of SEED.
Godmodule wrote:Spoon wrote:Would those mass produced Daggers count as Strikes? Since they are just tuned down versions of the Strike and all
A variation of the Strike, yes. I'd count them.
It's supposed to be the CE version of the GM.

That was the ulimate of lame. That guy died. That's it, dead, over, pushing up the daisies, cold, not breathing, ceased to function and a goner. Strike was totally vaporised by a positron (sp?) cannon, no amount of phase shift armor can save you from that, there is just no way in hell you can survive that.
But then suddenly he came back to life.
Destiny. Fail.

Yazan survived his Hambrabi blowing up. But then, Yazan is badass personified.
Also, he used an escape pod.
Mu just got lucky. He IS supposed ot be a Newtype (Yeah, they exist in SEED), though, but I don't think that would include explosion resistance.
