Autobase Prime - Intelligence Offices

"Yeah." Jazz knew a large scale assault was out of the question, it's been out of the question for a long time. The early days of the wars was a different story when both sides were hoping to end it soon, but that's not the way it went, both side quite stubborn. Now small scale was the best they could do, and he could only hope the Decepticons still had the same limitations too. "Grimlock just came back... it would be perfect for him, if he wasn't doing his own thing that is."

He thought for a second more, he figured there was some was to have their cybertronium and eat it too. "Maybe an attack there can be enough of a distraction where we can send another team to steal the tech for that shell. You're our stealth expert, Mirage, you think it can work?"

Approaching Science Sector

First Aid had spent the trip thinking of how he would rearrange the medical lab for more efficient equipment storage, not spending much time thinking on the mission, that was Hot Spot's job he thought. "Hm, okay." He responded to his leaders statement about going to some hill. He still wasn't sure what they were going to do when they got there, but he figured he find out soon enough.

Strafe, remember if you need help give me a shout, I’ll be there.’

Stormfire watched as Strafe disappeared down the corridor. Once the Technobot was out of sight Stormfire set off towards the command centre turning a corner to happen upon Blurr and Jedishen, now conversing with Repugnus. Stormfire did not no the bot well but that wasn’t unusual for a mech who avoided people. Stormfire approached the group and told them what had happened to Strafe.

‘Strafe has just been summoned by Scattershot for some sort of recon mission so he won’t be joining us.’

Stormfire turned to Repugnus and inclined his body in a slight bow

‘Greetings Repugnus, I trust all goes well?’

Autobase Prime ~ Ark 13

Windcharger sat in silence as Prime left, the weight of his words sinking in. He knew that most of the other Autobots didn't really take him seriously, but he was at times more pensive than he got credit for. The speech given by the Autobot leader had it's intended effect on the minibot. Responsibility was the burden that all Autobot warriors had to carry. The Decepticons had it easy. There were no rules of engagement for them but one, win at all cost.

As his optics lingered on the Ark entrance, Windcharger's attitude was noticably changed. He was no longer his usual ebullient self. His resolve was focused to the task ahead of him. Failure was not an option at this point. He pushed out all distractions, freeing up his RAM to perform his duty at maximum capacity. Quick action is the key to quick victory, whether that meant taking decisive action or following orders efficiently.

Sitting at the navigation console, Windcharger was now ready for anything.

Ark 13 - In berth

Perceptor listened rapt at Optimus' uplifting speech. The speech tugged on the scientists spark-struts, and not only made him feel incredibly proud for being chosen for this mission, and made him resolve to retriple all his efforts towards this mission. The salute became so stiff one could be forgiven for thinking Perceptor was in stasis lock, and a misty residue built up in his optics. It wasn't until Optimus was totally out of sight that Perceptor recovered his decor.

"Well, that....that was incredibly uplifting. Optimus truly embodies the spirit behind our cause. Well, I suppose we shouldn't leave him waiting, the sooner this team is together the better. Windcharger, lay in a course for Nova Cronum. Landfill, report once you're secure. Someone should radio ahead to Nova Cronum so they'll expect the large radar contact...Sureshot, you're nearest the comms. Err, this is all ok, Ultra Magnus sir?"

Autobase Prime- Command Center

Road Rage continues data processing. She'd swear she could see the last of the files just before more gets added. Maybe she was getting the hang of this? It wasn't as hard as radar monitoring.
But she felt so.. so... bleh about the whole process. It's not her function. Far from it. Far from anything she's ever done. Bodyguard, Advisor, ground combatant, Aerial combatant. But she can't complain. Would they really put her into a role that she can't perform even marginally?
Prime had slipped by her notice as he left the command area, but with the data she read on the potential new battleground off planet, he has his reasons.
Prime isn't the only superior officer in the Autobot forces either. Orders could come from anywhere.

Something will come up for me sooner or later, but I hope Iacon stays a quiet post for a long time. She wasn't going to think something foolish and want Iacon, the Autobot capital to be attacked. Last thing the Autobots needed was another risk of loss, and especially the loss of Iacon.

Windcharger looked at Perceptor with a sly grin.

"Didn't you hear me the first time? I've got the coordinates plotted already. With your central processor working so hard all the time you must have too much noise in your cranial unit to hear me."

Turning to Ultra Magnus he said,

"Whenever you're ready sir."

Autobase Prime Hallways (Scoop)

Scoop walked besides Brawn thinking. He knew that the older bot did not by the act he was giving and was probably humoring him, but for Brawn to agree to have an energon refreshment with him was a little reassuring. Scoop then looked at his fellow Autobot and said "Good, to see that you are still functioning my friend. It seems with the cons latest moves the we need to count our blessings that things haven't been worse for our forces." Scoop then gave some thought and added "Not that things are going well now. Scoop continued to walk and had his receptors open.

Autobase Prime Hallway (Repugnus)

Repugnus put his hand over his optics as the two autobots he was talking to gave him their opinions. Apparently things around this base had made them lax around here. Even if one of their comrads went missing in the hallways. He then looked at the new arrival. He knew this bot as Stormfire. He just gave him a nod in recognition of his arrival and said " A little irratated".

He then looked at Blurr and Jedishon and said "In times of war you need to keep the same attitude that you would have as if you were on the battlefield. Never know if spies are running around here." He then gave each of them a look and sneered. "Could be that with Prime being away things around here are way to lax. To tell you all the truth Prime needs to make you all see action to appreciate what I am saying."

Approaching Science District

Streetwise continued following Hotspot keeping his sensors open for anything amiss. It was true that Chase and Groove were doing their part in scouting ahead. He just wanted to be sure that no one missed anything. If there was anything that the commander did not like was being sloppy while moving through an area. He would make sure that he would do his part. He then piped up to Hotspot "Sir my sensors confirm what the others had said. Things are clear at present." He then shut his vocalizer down and followed in rank.

Ark 13 ~ Bridge

It was why he was the Autobot Supreme Commander and the Matrix Bearer, it was one of the many things that seperated him from the others that followed him, his innate ability to inspire those around him with just his words and his presence, it was unrivalled.. Well, in the Autobot ranks at least. As he returned the salute and shook Prime's hand before he left, Magnus couldn't help but feel energized, determined, and above all, proud to be the leader of this mission, he only hoped he wouldn't let Optimus' faith in him be misplaced. As he turned to look at the others on the mission, seeing the looks on their faceplates, he knew he wasn't the only one who felt that they couldn't let Optimus down.

"Yes Perceptor, quite alright.." Magnus replied to the more than capable Scientist as he made sure his handing out of orders to those assembled was OK "..OK Windcharger, let's get going, next stop Nova Cronum, and then onto AC-488" The City Commander ordered as he took his seat in the Commander's chair, slightly surprised at how comfortable he felt in it.

--------------------------------
Autobase Prime ~ Hallways

It seemed that he had irked the Monsterbot with his comment, and that things were much too 'Lax' around Autobase Prime for Repugnus' liking. Jedishen was quite prepared to just let things go as Stormfire rejoined them and informed them of what Strafe was up to, but when he heard Repugnus say they all needed to see some action, the Scout was now the one who felt irked.

"Who are you to say we need action?! For your information, genius, we've only just returned from Tagan Heights and the defense of Autobase Tau, I think that may qualify as action. I don't suppose you've seen any action recently? No? Didn't think so" Jedishen angrily replied. There were many things that didn't bother him, but being accused of becoming lax and lazy was not one of them, and the Scout didn't really care who it was, he wasn't going to stand by and take it without saying anything.

Autobase Prime - Armory

"I figured maybe we could tag along," Sunstreaker told Scattershot. "You know, back you guys up."

The golden Autobot gestured at Sideswipe and Bluestreak. "And these two haven't had any action in a while. Siders took an enforced nap, and Bluestreak's been on base duty. Yawn."

Now we just have to get headed in the right direction. Either Kaon or Polyhex would be my guess...big ugly wasn't there for the battle in the Heights, so he's probably not on garrison duty there now. Sunstreaker pondered this for a moment. Kaon's too far. No way we could sneak off to the slaggin' south pole. Polyhex it is. He looked at Scattershot and Strafe again.

"Rollin' down toward Polyhex might be a good idea. Never know when the 'Cons might try to bust into our territory again."

Autobase Prime - Intelligence Offices

"Without a doubt it's doable," Mirage nodded in affirmation of Jazz's two-pronged plan. "Intelligence from Kaon is, of course, difficult to come by as ever, but being so far from the major combat theaters, it's as vulnerable to infiltration as it will ever be." That's not saying much, but regardless...

Lifting a datapad off the table and skimming over its contents as he spoke, Mirage began contemplating what sort of team he could assemble to take into the spark chamber of the Decepticon Empire. "Striking in the Heights should bring the Decepticons' focus onto defending their new territory, and hopefully drive troop transfers from Kaon, if not Polyhex as well. This is our best opportunity to take the technology for ourselves, I believe."

Turning to leave, Mirage looked over his shoulder to Jazz. "I'll prepare a mission roster and work out some way to get into Kaon. If you can acquire approval from Prime, I'll be ready to move."

Exiting the Intelligence Offices, the spymaster headed off to his own quarters to access some of his old datastores regarding Kaon. Even with distractions to obscure the Autobot incursion, slipping into Kaon would be no trivial matter.

Autobase Prime - Command Center

The grave duty of sending Ultra Magnus' unit to AC488 finished, Optimus Prime returned to the Command Center. As supreme commander his work was never done. Fortunately, he never quite tired of his duties. Certainly his primary processor sometimes seemed to reach its crashing point as he conducted a war and dealt with the needs of an entire faction, but even in the most overwhelming of times his resolve remained. I chose this role. I am doing what must be done, but I am doing it of my own free will. If I had not wished to be what I am, I could have remained Orion. Entering the Command Center, he looked to Elita-1.

"Elita," he greeted her. "I need an update on our operational situation."

Ark-13: In Berth

Perceptor was quite taken aback by Windcharger's statement, but after an astrosecond he realised the minibot was right: He hadn't really been paying attention to what his fellows had been saying. He'd been too wrapped up in his own thoughts and Prime's speech to really consider what they'd been talking about. That was a habit he'd have to stop if he was to be part of this team.

"Er...my apologies Windcharger. I trust you are more than capable of handling your console and all its functions."

With Ultra Magnus giving the order to move out, Perceptor focused his primary optics on his own console and all the scientific and engineering data that was coming in from the charging systems. His secondary optics roamed around to the room, to see if he could somehow help any of his teammates.

Autobase Prime ~ Energon Bar

Brawn sat with Scoop regaling him with stories of battles passed, both won and lost. It made Brawn realize that he'd been fighting the good fight for a very long time. The thought of friends he'd lost in combat made him think about how he'd treated Trailbreaker earlier.

"Scoop, I gotta ask you a question, and it aint easy."

He shifted in his seat uncomfortably.

Aww, just come out with it tin for brains.

"How do I apologize to 'Breaker? I'm not used to that kind of thing. Buncha mushy stuff, you know?"

Brawn was usually short on words and blunt, but he knew that his outburst was out of the ordinary for him. He wasn't sure how to let Trailbreaker know that he'd hit on a sore spot with him. The Decepticons had gotten the better of him at the Tagan Heights. All he could think about was kicking tailgate to get revenge. There was no way that Trailbreaker could know about all that.

Autobase Prime ~ Armoury

Scattershot thought for a klik on Sunstreaker's plan. He couldn't think of a reason why they couldn't check out the border to both the Tagan Heights and Polyhex. It was just a recon mission, after all, and he was sure they could cover alot of ground. Scattershot had great respect for their combat abilities, even if they were ground troops. The thought of the combined combat experience of the five of them made him smile.

"Yeah, alright! You guys tag along, and we'll check out Polyhex then Tagan Heights. Just try to keep up with Strafe and me."

Making sure all his and Strafe's armaments were in place he moved to the door. He waited for the others to catch up and then left for the exit to Autobase Prime. His usual jovial and blustery self, he joked around with his comrades as they made their way outside. Once outdoors, he looked up to the sky and laughed then looked back to his troops.

The Decepticons are in trouble now!

"Autobots, transform and move out!"

Autobase Prime ~ Ark 13

Windcharger sat there wishing he could think of the perfect thing to say, but he was still in awe of Prime's words.

"Ok Autobots, sit tight. Next stop, Nova Cronum to pick up the Aerialbots and Broadside"

Windcharger engaged the boosters and eased the Ark of it's moorings. Lifting gracefully, for such a large craft, he turned in the direction of Nova Cronum and slowly brought them up to speed. Not that Windcharger thought he was going to impress anyone with his piloting skills, but it didn't hurt to try. Plus, it wasn't every day he got to fly. He was trying ensure there would be other opportunities.

Autobase Prime -armoury

Strafe just nodded; he wasn't planning on arguing even if his already paranoid mind was picturing all the things that could go wrong. Quiet and subdued the other technobot didn't really feel the need to say anything he was so nervous.

Like Scattershot; Strafe respected the three ground warriors; but was also wary enough to know that it was a possiblity that he was going to get his wings handed to him at this rate.

Once outside Strafe just sighed and prepared to follow orders Here we go again he thought to himself. he would follow Scattershot anywhere if he had to as he rather liked his leader just as he was fond of all the technobots. It was Scattershot's bravado and recklessness that tended to grate on the poor already paranoid bot's nerves.

Airspace above Autobase Prime

The compact form of Bravo's minijet form launched from Autobases hangar and circled the base once. After almost being crushed by Quake at Tagan, Bravo hadn't stayed any longer in the CR chambers than he had to, and had headed out to stretch his wings as soon as Ratchet had let him go. He was soon satisfied that everything was in working order and wad about to head back, when he noticed Scattershot, Strafe, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe and Bluestreak, all rolling out of the base, with some destination obviously in mind. Bravo opened a channel to the team.

>>Oh hey guys, you heading off on patrol? Got room to squeeze in a minibot?<<

Scattershot wasn't familiar with the mini-bot Bravo, but the fact that he seemed eager to contribute sat well with the leader of the Technobots.

>>Sure Bravo. As long as you can keep up and pull your own weight.<<

Should make things interesting. We'll see what the little guy's made of.

Scattershot flew on towards the Iacon/Polyhex border region, quite pleased that his little recon team was starting to look like a strike team. With three aerial and three ground warriors, he was sure they could quite easily take on any Decepticons that showed their ugly face-plates.

The willingness of these warriors to follow him also boosted his ego. It made him feel like a real leader. Typically, Scattershot only led the Technobots. Having some of the other Autobots under his command was a rare experience, so he would relish the opportunity.

Scattershot's scanners picked up Ark-13 departing Iacon for Nova Cronum. He was not aware of the off world mission, so this struck him as odd. Opening a comm-link to the Ark, he asked what was going on.

>>Scattershot to Ark-13. What's going on? Where you off to in such a hurry?<<

He waited for a response, not so much out of concern as much as curiosity. The allocation of resources necessary to launch an Ark typically meant something big was happening.

“huh?..... what?”
Sureshot had completely dazed off with all the technical talk buzzing around him. Sometimes he tended to do that when he became bored. Then her realized he had dropped the ball.

“Ooops Sorry Precepter I didn’t hear ya.”
He looked sheepishly over at Ultra Magnus. Then places his hand over his face for a moment. ~That was quite embarrassing. I’ll have to step it up a notch or their gonna think I lost my edge.~ He swiveled his chair and made ready to handle any other duties he could help with.

Skies over Iacon

"Hah, I don't wiegh all that much, so I shouldn't have problems!" Bravo quipped as he fell into formation with the 2 technobots. He realised that he probably should have checked back at base if there were any official tasks for him, but the prospect of leaving on a mission there and then had been enough.
Bravo was about to ask more about the mission, when the Ark took off from the base and headed southeast, larger and more ominous than any autobot.
"Woah. I didn't even know we had stuff like that! Is that the head of our counterattack?"

Ark 13 - Taking off

Perceptor was mildly disconcerted by the takeoff, not really being the most mobile of the Autobots. Travelling just wasn't his style, unless there was something of true scientific importance to be gained. Thoughts of their destination restored his mood.
"All systems are handling optimally, Ultra Magnus sir. And do not worry, Sureshot, none of us can truly be said to be familiar with this equipment. Well, I have studied it and upgraded the systems over the vorns, but this is the first time in over 100 vorns that the Ark has been used in its desired role."

Scattershot's attention was diverted from Ark-13 when he noticed three unidentified craft flying in Decepticon territory in a triangular formation.

Looks like a Seeker patrol squad to me. Only they would be flying around here like that. I wonder what they're up to? No good I'll bet. Let's slag 'em!

>>Scattershot to recon team. It looks like we have some rusty old Seekers up to no good. We're moving into Polyhex to engage. Strafe, you call it in to base. Bravo, stay on my wing as best you can. Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Bluestreak you keep us covered from the ground. And keep an optic out for reinforcements. We'll try to force them to the ground so you can have some fun too.<<

"YEEHAW!"

Scattershot broke formation, engaging his afterburners and entering Decepticon airspace. He wanted to be the first one in, and likely the last one out. His circuits sizzled at the thought of scrapping some Seekers, although the Decepticons probably had lots to spare.

"This is for Tagan Heights, Decepticreeps!"

On the ground in Iacon - Near the Polyhex border

Bluestreak raced along side Sunstreaker and Sideswipe as Scattershot, Strafe and Bravo flew overhead. It had been a while since Bluestreak had last seen battle, and it hadn’t ended very well. Deep down he wasn’t looking forward to fighting again, but he knew it would be necessary. Plus, he had a score to settle with a certain con that knocked him out of commission in the Heights.

As the three ground warriors raced towards Decepitcon territory, it became clear to Bluestreak that he was a part of a team, a trio of bots with one common goal – hunting down that bearded drone leader, or whatever he was. Bluestreak thought a moment on what to call this little team of theirs. “Hey guys,” Bluestreak said to both Sunny and Siders, as they raced along the ground in their alt modes. “Since we’re a team now and all, I was thinking maybe we should call ourselves something. I dunno. Maybe, something like Ground Breakers or Dark Riders." Bluestreak thought for a nano-klik. "Or how about Wild Mavericks!? That’s a good one, right? Yeah, I really like that one. What do you guys think?”

As Bluestreak waited for the twins to respond to his suggestion, Scattershot’s voice came over the communicator alerting the ground warriors of a squad of seekers straight ahead just over the border in Polyhex. The Technobot was requesting cover from the ground team and that’s exactly what they would get. Once Scattershot broke formation and penetrated Decepticon territory, Bluestreak sped into action.

“Come on, Wild Mavericks!” the talkative Autobot shouted as he raced ahead of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. “Time to bust up some cons!” Within a few astroseconds, Bluestreak was across the Iacon/Polyhex border.

Stormfire rarely saw the point in losing his temper, it usually made his goals more difficult to achieve. Still this was the first time Stormfire could recall seeing the scouting bot worked up so he simply decided to wait until Jedishen had finished his little tirade before trying to steer the conversation in another direction.
Repugnus, before our separation my comrades and I were heading to the command centre, assuming that Jedishen still wishes to go there would you care to join us?’
Stormfire waited for a response from either mech, he found it extremely unlikely that Jedishen would maintain a petty grudge against Repugnus, and Stormfire did not know enough about Repugnus to effectively predict the bot’s reaction. So Stormfire waited.

The Skies of Iacon

Strafe hadn't said much during the flight and the joing of the minibot Bravo into their little squad; truth was he was just a tad too paranoid and keeping his sensors open to speak.

>>Be careful<< he meerly commed back privately to Scattershot.

Strafe sighed "here we go again" he muttered to himself before opening a secure commlink to the autobot base. >>Autobot base. This is Strafe of the Recon team reporting seeker activity near the Ark-13's position. We're moving into Polyhex to engage.<<

Strafe sighed as he moved to follow his leader hoping he'd get a reply soon.

(OOC ~ No worries Silverblade, happens to all of us :) )IC

Aboard the Ark 13

Satisfied that all was proceeding smoothly, Ultra Magnus nodded in response to Perceptor, as Windcharger began to guide them towards their one and only stop before leaving Cybertron. The City Commander was still uneasy with running the Ark this close to Polyhex, a feeling that was made all the more apparent when Scattershot contacted them. Taking a moment to make sure his reply went through in a coded form, Magnus wasn't surprised to see the Technobot leader dash off towards the Polyhex border "Primus knows what he's up to, probably looking for some Seekers to..." Magnus trailed off as the other possibility hit him "...Or has already found some Seekers, and if they're this close, then..."

The City Commander trailed out of his thoughts as he sent his reply to Scattershot

>>Ark 13 to Scattershot, I understand your curiosity, it's not every Cycle you see the Ark in the air, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't contact us over a general commlink this close to Polyhex. As for what we're doing, well, that isn't really any of your concern right now, Ark 13 out<<

With his reply sent, Ultra Magnus moved down to the main console where Perceptor was sitting, and took a look over the radar, and sure enough, it was picking up multiple blips from Polyhex. "OK Windcharger, take us in to land at Nu nice and easy, I've got to have a quick word with Prowl"

(OOC ~ OK Windcharger, have your next post in the Nova Cronum thread, with the Ark landing)IC

Ark 13

Searchlight sat back, strapped into his seat. He always made sure that he sat in a seat with a seat belt, it seemed to him that the statistics showed that most space craft accidents happened either at take off or landing so he wanted to be securely strapped to his chair if a crash was pending. He always got nervous at the beginning or end of flights but generally enjoyed the journey once they had left the gravity of the planet. He tried to focus on this as a way of relaxing himself.

Bar

Freeway, Wideload and Rollbar walked into a bar. This wasn't the beginning of one of Freeway's jokes but rather an act of three Autobots who had little else to occupy their time. Wideload had finished applying umpteenth coat of wax (grime was already building up). Rollbar had finished watching his latest recording of When Death Defying Stunts Go Wrong and Freeway had been locked away in his room wanting some privacy...this usually meant bad news for someone.

Autobase Prime--Medical bay

It had grown relatively quiet in the Autobot's primary repair location. It was a state of affairs that Ratchet was rather thankful for. Not that he didn't feel fulfilled by getting his comrades back on their feet, far from it. It just seemed like he had been doing a lot of it lately. And the same faces he had repaired ended up being sent right back to him. He understood why, of course. He had been involved in this war for long enough. But it didn't make it any easier to witness the results of these skirmishes and all-out battles.

Going over the officers' logs for the current cycle, he could see that another group was being dispatched to engage a group of fliers.

Decepticons...of course, Ratchet thinks ruefully, beginning a systems diagnostic on all of his current equipment. He wanted it fully functioning without any operational glitches when the first casualties of the "patrol" started coming in.

He probably wouldn't have to wait long.

Skies above Iacon

Bravo was somewhat taken aback by Scattershots enthusiastic charge toward Decepticon lines. I guess he's eager to see us making gains after the disaster at Tagan. Bravo could hardly blame him, wanting badly to do something about it himself.

Engaging his afterburners, Bravo blasted off past Strafe and fell into formation just behind Scattershot. His new team were ready to take on any Decepticon they found.

OOC: I'll also move to Polyhex, assuming the mods are ok with this.
