Insecticon's Lair: Problem/Bugs thread
Re: Insecticon's Lair: Problem/Bugs thread
Mkall wants a shot at fixing the problem in the coding itself before we resort to harsh measures, so the issue is on hold for a bit.

The Alt. rotator appears to be not working, though this may only be for Maximals. Is there any word on this?

I know this one has been in here a bunch but I've never seen it like this. I got stasis locked but still won the mission

I know it's been sugested before but I can't remember why it never happened... so I'll suggest it again......
Why not change the stat upgrade to something like the XP Calculator, then when you have have the stats where you want them you hit submit and the changes are made?
a) it'll help us poor fools that have dial-up
and b)It will eliminate this 'cheat' of getting stats higher than 10

QFT.
I banged on about this in OS's time and he came up with some bullshit about the calculations being far too complex to make that possible. WTF he was actully thinking about at the time one can only wonder.

couldn't you just copy and paste the code for the calculator and then add a submit button to change those stats.
if not can't we get bun-bun to give mkall the actual stat raising formula from his excel sheet

Re: Insecticon's Lair: Problem/Bugs thread
Okay, well, I just spent sometime playing with my Character-Edit Mod abilities at the expense of one of my oldest troops, but it was, to say the least, educational.
The important thing here is that I can't manually adjust the stats. I swear I remember having that option, but it's not there now, so either it was removed or I'm going stir-crazy.
Whatever the case may be, it means that if Mkall can't find a hardcode solution, I can't use my original plan of just manually adjusting any >10 stats to 10.
It appears, actually, that the best option I have for dealing with someone who refuses to reset their stats within the appropriate limits is to "Repo" the offending character.
Yeah, believe it or not, it looks like I have the ability to change possession of specific characters. I'm going to try it on one of my wife's bots to see if it works. If the character is lost to limbo she'll probably never notice, and if she does I'm sure I can find some way to get myself out of trouble.

Re: Insecticon's Lair: Problem/Bugs thread
why don't you see if you can also create extra character slots at the same time! give her a 13th TF then posess it and muddle the stats of it, and then give it back and make it one with oblivion.

Result!
I transferred one of her characters to my team, made a change to it, and transferred it back.
I thought I'd screwed up twice - First because a thirteenth character does not appear on your Registry! It appears in your View Team page, so you can edit/upgrade it, but not on your Registry so you can field it. Second time, I couldn't find her username in the drop-down list because I was looking in the "k"s instead of the "K"s. That list is alphabetized strangely.
But in the end it all worked out!
No Result on Experiment #2.
I added a "Protoform 1138" to her team. It doesn't show up anywhere except in the Admin Panel.
I did however successfully delete the poor little guy.
Result on Experiment #3!

So is there a definite time frame to something being done about this?
Because looking at the arena battle logs, it's definitely having an affect, I don't think i've seen sprokitz owned on such a regular basis.

I've PMed Mkall asking whether he's close or not.
If he's not, I'll need to harass a NewsCrew member into posting an announcement for me.
Also, what do you guys think is fair notice?
One week? I had planned more, thinking I should let the alt rotator have a couple of goes, but I hate to let this go on, and I know now that I can in fact change people's alts as an admin.

quite frankly i would deal with this like some had put something inappropriate in their TFs name.

I did mine to test it mostly, but after talking to Mkall I took it off. No sense in it. I would think a week is fine if not less.
Originally I had asked Mkall if I could keep it till the alt came around, but it wasn't worth it. Right now I have one that doesn't have the right alt for it.

Since you sacrificed your alt specifically to help us out I'm willing to fix that for you if I can.
I just need details.

Thanks but no worries, it *should* come around this rotation, even then the substitute alt is alright just not the preference. Anyway no worries.

Re: Insecticon's Lair: Problem/Bugs thread
Update: Mkall has a 'theoretical solution'. He still needs to test it (no I don't know how long that will take) but if it works players won't be able to go over 10 with any of their stats or tactics. Any bots who have stats/tactics >10 he's just going to manually adjust to =10.

Re: Insecticon's Lair: Problem/Bugs thread
In this mission my guy L3 Bing-Bong scored just 1 point of damage to L6 JJetter yet scored an amazing 2320 xp!!!! Bing-Bong scores 1920xp for what amounts to a poke in the eye!!
Not one to look the gift horse an all, i still thought i better ask why and after reading a few posts back is it related to overramping??

No, you got the killing blow, and the game figures out how much damage you did, awards the appropriate amount of xp, and then deals the damage to the target.
So you got xp for overkill.
You learned from your excessive application of violence.

I'm pretty sure I still have an old copy of that if it'll help... though I pretty much just grabbed the XP chart from Glyphs site and wrote a few formulas to work with it.
I'm not so sure my Excel stuff would help much since it works just like the XP calculater in the help section, and since that's already coded it should be alot easier to adapt into the game than Excel
(I'm assuming anyways)
