Is it cheating when..

Postby Whitestorm » Sat Oct 27, 2007 5:36 pm

My top bot got to L1 today. I was very excited and put him in one of the new missions i saw L1-8. He got wasted in 1 hit! OK, i see my logic was flawed. I thought all i needed was 1 hit and i would have been quids in! Making that hit is another matter, lol Not going to try that again soon!
Several missions later and i find my new L1 bot is up against other L1 bots who have 250-350,000 experience and shed loads of upgrades! I was so proud to make L1 in a week, but my best bot isnt doing as well as he was with no experience! I can see how and why a commander would do this to his troops, just wanted to know if it was kosher or not?
Cheers.

simple tip, save some xp for the road ahead.

If you give us a link to your character that would be helpful, or tell us his max xp, either will do.

Personally, I waited until I had 2 points in robot mode before upgrading. As the cap is 40,000 xp, I saved my guys up to 21,000 xp before making the jump, and they don't do brilliantly, but they're not getting hammered.

Jump back down to lvl 0 and gain more xp first, that's my solution.

Side note: 21,000 xp is about the same as 3 upgrades in 1 class, 1 upgrade in another class, and 1 upgrade in tactics (worth 1,000 xp), as well as 2 upgrades in robot mode.

Sometimes it's better to get a few more points to upgrade before you actually level up. Plus at lvl 0 you don't spend any energon in the cr chamber

I agree with the other posters who say wait until you have enough exp for several upgrades. It's much less painful.

Thanks guys. I hit 10k and upgraded right away! I didnt know that i wasnt spending energon for cr but that explains why i have almost 50,000 and nothing to spend it on!
I take it the advice is to stay at the lower level until you have to go up?

No, it's advised that you stay in a level until you can afford to maintain that bot at the next level.

found an old post about "level bullying/overamping/leveling up"

strategically level bullying does have short term advantages, but in the long term you want to increase your level as fast as possible, staying at a lower level for a prolonged time slows your xp intake. a level 3 needs to kill 4 level ones to make the same xp as killing a level 3, or doing half damage to a level 4.

energon wise level bullying akes alot of sense, but tapping one of your richer mates is usually better for this anyway.

Level Bullying was only fun when the quintessons was here, and you could take in 8-10,000 Xp for one mission on lv.1 (well, that probably wasn't level bullying, since the enemy was lv.6-8 ).

Good times, that was my primary xp income at the start.

Now I have to do it the lame way like everyone else!
