Yeah! Screw the Haters! There's a use for every mold! :KREMZEEK:
I like what youv'e done with the guy, Id'e buy that, really, I would. I miss back when Hasbro Toys Actually DID Kinda look this detailed. Now we have to do all the work upon puchase. Hasbro should either paint and detail their figures right, or incluse the paint in every package upon request from the counter you buy it at. Including it in package would be dangerous. I think that's a good Idea! have them swipe your ID And they'll give you paints and stuff for your TFs upon purchase! That would be awesome! There should be a store that does that!
Whoa.
Back on topic.
that ratchet is awesome stuff.
now, If only the HA Ratchet were released, but all we got were prototypes...

Looks good. I have often thought of getting this fig to repaint as roadbuster (G1 not DOTM)..
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

But hasn't that been done already, twice? Who cares, It's still cool! Repaint's are usually pretty awesome, esp. with it being a bad mold, because it shows you how good the mold COULD Have been.

The touch-ups and metal paint job does wonders for this mold, not to mention the stickers in the back of the alt mode.

Please don't take this in a negative way, but I'm curious as to why the green paint job looks grainy. Was it an issue with the clear coat?

it was an issue, and thanks for noticing it. when i brush the paint on the brush dries a little bit and little flakes form on the brush and get mixed in with the wet paint on the figure. that just messes it up and i dont know why it does that and the only want to fix it is by taking the paint off and starting over with the risk of it happening again. if you have a solution please share, this is not the only custom of mine that this has happened to.

To be honest, I'm by no means an expert in modeling or customizing, but as far as the grainy look on the fig, I suspect that the paint might be a bit too thick, possibly due to some of the thinner in the paint having evaporated. Which brand of paint are you using? Paints from major brands like Tamiya and Mr. Hobby can be stored for many years and still be usable.

As far as hand-brushing goes, it's best to add paint retarder or thinner to your paint, and apply multiple thin coats with ample drying time. Some even advocate the use of Pledge [FKA Future Floor Polish] as it supposed to be self leveling. And if paint starts to dry on the brush, it's best to clean the brush before doing a second coat.

In any case, why not try using spray paints? While spraying presents its own set of problems ["orange peel" and frosting due to varying temperature and spraying distance], it's easier to get a smooth finish than hand painting. Finding the right color might be a problem, though, if you're not using an airbrush.

I think you might be able to get more advice from the true experts in this forum at the Tips and Tricks thread. Skyfire and Mykltron have helped me out with tons of great advice before.
