Did anyone else notice...

That it appeared that the film makers "combined" some TF's into the movie designed characters? Most notably Ratchet and Frenzy.

It seemed they combined Wheeljack (scientist) and cartoon Ratchet (medic) into the movie ratchet, and comibined cartoon Soundwave and cartoon Frenzy into the movie Frenzy. Also with the movie Bonecrusher and Devastator characters...

Did anyone else notice this? Kind of annoying and unnecessary...

Other than the alt mode for frenzy I can't see how he took much from soundwave. Their personalities are certainly quite different. As for Rachet... I'm not sure I see your point. Wheeljack and Rachet's roles always overlapped.

Motto: "Til All Are One."
Weapon: Dual Laser Cannon
In order for Wheeljack's personality to have been truly combined with Ratchet in the movie, Ratchet would have had to mention something being wrong with someone's transformation cog or electro conductors.

I noticed frenzy seemed to be a combo character too. not sure how much rumble was in him, but he definately had some ravage, soundwave, and waspinator in him.

I think the Soundwave-Cassette tandem went to Blackout-Scorponok+Frenzy.
Actually, the cassettes's roles were summed up and distributed to both Scorponok and Frenzy.

Soundwave and Blackout are both:
1. Big and Powerful. If you leave out the combiners, Soundwave is probably the biggest Decepticon next to Megatron.
2. Expert in interfacing with other computer devices.
3. Silent and does not speak much. Relatively, that is, compared to the screen time of each.
4. Emotionless and merciless.
5. Blackout's powerful EMP hints at his dominion over communication and electronic devices.
6. Smart and cunning. Attack from behind tactic.
7. Ever loyal to Megatron.

Scorponok & Frenzy's similarities to the cassettes:
1. Both are obviously ejected from a larger host.
2. Both are tasked to pursue and attack humans.
3. Frenzy as spy and inflitrator.
4. Scorponok, i believe can double as infiltrator as well, in some situations, with his ability to barrow into the ground.

The Autobots seems to come as they are. A little bit modified. But still the original characters in a different uniform.
