I still thing they should just be vaguely dinosoid in appearance in robot mode.
If they can pull of a gigantic robot scorpion, they can pull off robots turning into robotic dinosaurs and make it look kick-ass.

I think it won't be totally silly to have a dinosaur robot.

People these days can pretty much accept anything. As long as the CGI graphic is awesome.
