Flight is an advantage, in that it gives ya three dimensions to work in instead of just two. Don't have to be a Decepticon to realize that.

Yeah, and all it takes is a shot at a wing or jet thruster to take them out of the sky.

Tanks aren't very maneuverable, from what I last heard. Sure the heavy armor is worth having, but doesn't it add slowness? And isn't terrain a factor in how good a tank is going to be in any situation?

Now, I'm not knocking tanks or anything. I'm just saying jets are a bit more versatile in a lot of combat situations.

Megatron was never meant to be super fast, he only had a speed rating of 4 to the Seekers 9-10.

I always thought the gun was lame. It's the only real mistake made in G1. I mean he transforms into something 10% (or less) the size of his robot form, and is dependent on someone else to fire him.

Completely inconsistent with an alternate mode of a evil leader.

Now that's something I completly agree with. I allways thought Megatron had a crappy alt mode.

That being said, I'm voteing Tank. It shoots, it moves on it's own, it's not a car, and not a jet. Leave the sky to Starscream, he's gotta keep his Air Commander title and a car just seems wrong. Did not Cybertron Megatron.

A tank makes no sense. Decepticons can fly, that's their big advantage over Autobots. Why take that advatage away by becoming a big, lumbering, ground-based target? Come on, you know the Hind-D makes sense. More firepower, and it would dominate a battlefield.

Okaaay, so no decepticon should be a tank at all, and all of them should just get jet alt-modes just because they can fly.

Autobots could also fly, you know. It just depends on the alt-mode.

Look at it this way: why are people saying a tank would be cool? Because it's got firepower. A Hind has more firepower, and it flies. Why settle for second best?

Just to add to that Decepticons who can't fly in alt mode are allways able to in robot mode. Why do they even need flying alt modes if they can fly in robot mode?

I appreciate that a lot of people think a tank would be cool. It would. It really would. But not as cool as something with more firepower that also flies. Why is flying so important? Well, it seems to be the big advantage the 'cons have. Losing that ability when transforming to an immobile (artillery piece) or slow-moving (tank) alt mode makes about as much sense to me as transforming into a handgun. Megatron as a tank would end up spending most of his time dueling with Warpath. I don't want to see that, and I LIKE Warpart.

Giving Megatron the ability to fly also puts him at a severe advantage over Prime. If they're both earthbound and of similar build quality (an alien truck could be as durable as an alien tank, honest ) they would have much more epic battles as opposed to Megatron sniping at Prime from the air.

I think the jet is more epic.
a big alien jet soars over you, transforms midair and blows you up!
tanks are slow, you could probably run away in a fast car. but if he transforms he'll be a big bulk running after you!
a big robots is blowing up the city then he turns into a giant gun, another big robot shoots you with the giant gun. dead.

A gun is not evil, it is a tool, a tool that can also be used to protect. A person using a gun can be evil but not the gun itself. Just because a tank moves slowly that makes it suitable for a dumb persona? I don't get that. The main reason I support a tank is because it would be built like a brick s***house which would be perfect for Megatron, especially in bot mode. A flying contraption while fast and vicious would never be able to take the punishment a tank could. Megatron is all about strength and raw power to me, not zooming along at a incredible speeds. When you look at Megatron you should be running, because you know if he gets too close you're going to die.

Need I point out that speed is obviously not an issue. Look at Optimus Prime, he's a freaking semi and you could not move as fast as Prime and do some of the stuff he does in a real semi. (Especially his U turn in the movie, that is freaking impossible to actully do but looks really cool.)

Long story short... a real tank rates like a 3 in speed. Megatron would still be a 10.

Yeah but the gun was the first firearm. before guns we used knives. then we get the gun. stuff like fighting and hunting aint fair anymore. the tank is just a big gun on wheels. missiles are big bullets. Guns came first.

So he literally can't shoot people directly beneath him while in jet mode....
