My one criticism is his arms in cannon mode, too thin. But that's it. I loves.
itscramtastic wrote:Sweet mercy skywarp-2, I forgot about Abaddon! For what it's worth, I'm happy with my Apollyon (first run), he was my first 3rd Party and still the best one I have!! To be fair, I only have him and Six Sigma![]()
itscramtastic wrote:Thank you for all of the comparison shots. I'd say the only REAL problem I had with DX-9's Tyrant WAS his fingers. He pulls the look off great to me. Actually, they all do in their own way.
I also always liked Galvatron from TF:TM better, would prefer to forget that he was thrown into some plasma pool to fry his circuits, and pick him up in Headmasters (maniacal, but not AS insane as Season 3).
Regardless, this is a tough decision. It was much easier for me when there was only one version (DX-9). Since we haven't seen much of X-Transbots Abaddon (even though Andras and Eligos look incredible), I've kinda written them out.
Drat.

Down_Shift wrote:Another sample I've enjoyed in hand.
I really didn't think I'd like the shoulders when the images were first shown to the public, but I gotta say in hand it really does look great. Nice weight, easy to pose, and a nice overall color scheme.
I didn't transform the sample at the request of the manufacturer (something I admittedly screwed up in North Carolina) but just looking the figure over you can see how well the transformation will flow and where the parts are coming from.
Time to sell Tyrant, because I really dig this guy!

itscramtastic wrote:[ I jumped on the Takasa Tony MP18B version of Bluestreak and MP21 Bumblebee w/Spike. Bumblebee happens to be one of the favorite figures for my daughter, so I'm glad I didn't pay the initial $70+ for the official. And guess what? He holds up great. The bumper and mirror have never fallen off, which they do all the time on my official Takara Tomy MP21G. Go figure.
itscramtastic wrote:I also have the newer release of Reximus in "animation colors" with silver paint, and he's AMAZING. One of the best figures I have. Added the KFC Delta Magnus hands to him (well, one hand as I still wanted the light up gimmick) and he even has his tail wag/head swivel gimmick. Gave my official TRU 1st release MP Grimlock to my nephew. He was excited, and then he saw Reximus and he wasn't AS excited![]()
itscramtastic wrote:As for Apollyon, I had some issues with his leg pieces when I first got him, mainly that some panels popped off and weren't fitting right from the factory. After you mentioned that leg fix I looked it up, and I will definitely try it out tonight (just didn't get to it last night). Anything to compact that kibble will just make him that much better.
itscramtastic wrote:I have yet to pick up any DX-9 or FANSTOYS products, so I can't speak to their quality, but I'm happy enough with Apollyon that I'd lean more towards Abaddon over Sovereign and even Tyrant. .
itscramtastic wrote:The fact of the matter is though, I NEED A MP GALVATRON!!! And I can't for the life of me convince myself that all these guys are worthy of being in my collection. I need more G1 Galvatron. Badly. And I'm almost to the point where I'm going to re-direct my collecting back that way.
Also, I appreciate your posts and look forward to more!.
itscramtastic wrote:Down_Shift: You lucky duck. What puts Sovereign over the top compared to Tyrant?
Sigma Magnus wrote:I tried the Apollyon leg kibble thing you suggested, and...it didn't work. And now, the tab is much looser...I'm not sure if I did it right. Could you PM me and help me out please?
skywarp-2 wrote:excellent! Great to hear someone has had their hands on this. So did it feel like a figure that fans of FT will enjoy? How did the initial sample stack up to previous FT releases and compare with Takara Tomy's workmanship, or with your DX-09 Tyrant? From the images we don't get to see if there are real treads under the tank wheels, what are the treads like?
Did you do a Youtube review? Were you allowed to take detailed pics for the handling?
Overall, I think the design is solid in bot mode to a certain extent, but for me, I think I am going to wait to see the third release coming from X-transbots before making my mind up as to which 3P Not-Galvatron I want to purchase. Still, I would love to see what else about this figure you can share with us so others like myself on the fence have a good idea of what we would be spending our hard earned money on.. Thanks for the Update so far Down_Shift, can't wait to learn more.
