The Energon Pub

I recently picked up what seems to be an unpainted sample/prototype deluxe Jazz. It has "H-1081" carved into the windscreen and a sticker on the rear of the alt mode. The plastic colours are slightly different than the final release version, and the clear windows are a much lighter shade of blue. I think this is similar to the prototype shown at botcon 2007, but it had darker greenish windows.

Any ideas where this could have come from?















(The lighting is making this look slightly gold - it is actually grey but has some dirt/grime covering it...)

Yep, looks like a test sample to me. Most likely they were using it to key in on the desired plastic colors. If it was a mold test it would be randomly colored. Typically these would be sent to Hasbro for the designers to decide on the colors and then discarded so it may have been rescued by someone, as opposed to the multicolored mold tests that usually don't leave the factory unless Hasbro needs them for something, they're supposed to be discarded as well, but usually a worker takes them making them more common.
