i am brand new

and once the countdown gets to zero nothing happens I'm on a mac i guess i dont know what to expect can some one straighten me out.

Then keep doing it until you have enough xp to upgrade (done through your bots registry, just click on the bots name)

Hello fellow Mac user! When the countdown reaches 0, the counter will change to DONE. If you click the mission hyperlink you'll able to see how your mech did in the mission and/or arena.
