The point is that at a Super Saiyan level he can basically use the power of all life in the universe (after experiencing knowledge of the whole universe with the Emperor Kai) to power a battle against Superman. I think that at least gives him a shot-- I mean, the universe is pretty big.

But he never really gathered that much in the series and it was for use in the spirit bomb he never absorbed it and it's only to a limited place, the most he ever gathered was from several planets near namek, and it also takes him an incredibly long time to gather it, someone usually has to run distraction while he gathers the energy.

Actually, at the end of DBZ, he used a Spirit Bomb powered by everyone on Earth to kill Kid Buu.
In DBGT, he used a Spirit Bomb powered by (If I remember right) everyone in the galaxy, and when he was making it, he was impervious to attacks. (Omega Shenron kept chucking energy balls at him, but it didn't do anything)
Although I think he had to have Vegeta or someone stall Omega Shenron for a moment.
The Law of Magnification of Energy
Martial arts characters controlling ki energy can spend up to a whole thirty minutes, or an "episode," charging up, and during such time the other combatant will just stand there and watch without doing anything to stop him. Up to 20 successive "episodes" can go on in this manner, the total amount indirectly proportional to the magnitude of ideas being turned out by the show's writers at the given time.

As well, as stated in the wikipedia article, he can absorb the energy if he wants, and has gotten progressively faster at it throughout the series.
As well, I cite the Law of Anime #69...The Law of Magnification of Energy

EDIT: One thing I hadn't thought of-- if he wants, he can simply teleport to another area light-years away, like he's done in the past, and use the time Superman takes to get there to charge.

Well then he cant really hit Superman if he does that.
Inferno Prime wrote:Fine since we're using a non canon technique that has only used once with Goku I'm bringing out Superman's ultimate attack. It allows Superman to creat a mental arena where he has absolute control. He defeated a multiversal threat with it once. He's used it four times in his career but that's three more times than Goku has used his attack.
You're also assuming Goku fights much smarter than he normaly does. He likes to go in with his fists where Superman will anihilate him.
Besides Goku needs to have people willingly give him their power. He has no way to contact them in this fight. What again is Superman doing while he charges it? Even in the show the enemies don't stand around slack jawed while Goku charges it.

Inferno Prime wrote:No the movies are non canon. There is no way to fit the events of most of them into the show. Especially the Android one.

I don't remember this one. Did they add a bunch of new laws? Because I only remember it going to about 50 or so.
Sheba wrote:Now, this whole thread reminds me of a Cracked Magazine satire where the American-based cartoons were taking a hammering from the Japan-based Animes. Kimba the White Lion was stomping on Simba from Lion King, for instance. Just as all seemed lost, and the Anime characters were on the verge of victory, Dexter from Dexter's Lab summoned all the superheros from American Cartoons--Batman, Superman, Space Ghost, all those guys.
And Dexter said, "While Japanese heros can BLEED and DIE, American heros CANNOT! So I think we know who finally wins this war!"
And Goku goes, "We're finished!" (or something to that effect).

That's nothing-- Goku ate over 52 tons of food in under 5 minutes.

Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Batman Beyond, and Justice League have all shown blood (even from Superman). So that is thrown out the window. The difference is that it is much more graphic from anime characters. We see it dripping down from Goku whereas it just appears as a bloody lip on Superman.

Before Batman TAS, Superman TAS and all that stuff that came later, you NEVER saw a Superhero bleed in a US-made cartoon.
